Four-star defensive end JaReylan McCoy from Tupelo, Miss., announced his de-commitment from LSU on Monday morning.

The 6’7, 245-pound lineman from Tupelo High School announced his commitment to LSU in January at the Under Armour All-American Game, picking the Tigers over Ole Miss, Tennessee, USC, Alabama, and others.

McCoy is rated the No. 12 defensive lineman in the country and the No. 6 player from Mississippi, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

His de-commitment leaves LSU with five verbal pledges for the class of 2026.

I don’t know why we even have a recruiting board and I don’t know why people get excited or even talk about high school kids committee these days, it is a total fricking force

I enjoy clicking links like this to read the comments. Amazing how adults can melt down about the decisions of 17 and 18 year old kids. It's not that serious, go hug your family and have a great day!

Love how the twitter post says "had been Committed to the Tigers since January 2nd" to emphasize that 1 month is a long time for these kids to be committed now with NIL xD

Don’t care one bit.
It’s all nonsense.

NIL is good in only that it allows evaluation of one’s character publicly.

The old saying is, "Sports does not build character. It REVEALS it."

LSU should drop his offer and focus on players in the boot. They shouldn’t waste their time and energy on someone who commits for less than a month.

Even in NIL times this was REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEALLY quick.

What's the point of taking commitments these days?

Maybe he thought committed meant commented, since that’s all his commitment was, a meaningless comment.

Good for him. I guess his goal is to finish 4th-6th in the SEC every year

One month to the day. Why even commit at any point. Just wait for the highest dollar to come in at the last moment

I mean, thats what I'd do if I was a player in this day and age. Especially if I was from the typically impoverished demographic. 10k is fantasy money much less 100k

Better now than on early signing day. If we need him, swoop in on signing day with a bag and grab him then.

Attention and dollar seeking is all these kids and their agents/family do now. He will “commit” and decommit several more times in sure until signing day to the highest bidder
