Former LSU star and Atlanta Hawks rookie Skylar Mays scored his first NBA points during Thursday's loss to the Jazz.

Mays had a chance to sink an open three-pointer but followed up and got his own rebound which led to a foul and two points at the free-throw line.

The Hawks selected Mays in the second round of the NBA Draft with pick No. 50.

Maybe I don't listen to enough LSU Sports Radio, but does that announcer sound a little like Chris Blair to anyone else? Also, congrats to Skylar. He was what all student-athletes should hope to become. Very smart, got a great degree and also a great athlete that is getting his shot at the highest level of his sport. Anyone who isn't a star in their sport who is a surefire pro should aspire to be like Skylar.
