No. 25 Ole Miss Beats LSU On Last-Second Shot, 72-70

Per LSU: BATON ROUGE, LA. – The LSU Men’s Basketball team lost their ninth conference game of the season, 72-70 to Ole Miss on a last-second shot on Saturday night inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
The Tigers fall to 12-11 overall and 1-9 in SEC play, while Ole Miss advances to 18-6 and 7-4 in SEC play.
In the first half, the Tigers and the Rebels both shot 46% from the field. They also both knocked down four treys each. LSU struggled from the free-throw line, shooting just five-of-twelve. LSU, however, attacked the Rebels on the glass, outrebounding them 22-14 in the first half. The Tigers went into the half up six, 39-33.
In the second half, LSU picked up where they left off in the first half, extending their first half lead from six to 10. Ole Miss was able to close the gap but went cold on offense late in the second half, allowing LSU to stay ahead. However, LSU struggled from the free-throw line down the stretch, allowing the Rebels to mount a comeback. A last second shot by Dre Davis was good to allow the Rebels to take the 72-70 lead with 0.1 seconds to go.
Cam Carter led LSU in scoring with 16 points, knocking down four treys. Dre Davis led Ole Miss in scoring with 22 points.
The Tigers are back in action on Wednesday, February 11 as they hit the road to face Arkansas at 8:00 p.m. CT inside Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The Tigers won the first contest between the two earlier in the season, 78-74 in Baton Rouge.
