Five-star LSU power forward commit Emmitt Williams scored a record 44 points in the Jordan Brand Classic this past Sunday surpassing LeBron James who previously held the record with 34 points in 2003. Per USAToday:

Williams, a Louisiana State signee and power forward from Oak Ridge (Orlando), scored a Jordan Brand-record 44 points, mostly off a variety of heinously nasty dunks, to lead the Home squad to a 146-136 win Sunday in the 17th annual Jordan Brand Classic boys basketball game at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

“The biggest thing I bring to the table is my motor and guys love that,” Williams said. “As you can see, I told the players, ‘We’re all going to eat.’ I had 44 points, but guys were passing me the ball. It’s not like I was just taking a lot of shots. I’m glad people are noticing me now. I wasn’t a McDonald’s All-American, and I know I should have been one and I made a statement why I should have been one. I may take tomorrow off, but Tuesday, I’ll be back in the gym.”

I'm unfamiliar with this tournament, but from the looks of it, it appears to be a younger version of the globe trotters vs. generals. That's not a competitive game. That's an entertainment show. Scoring 44 in that type of environment isn't impressive if there's no defense and no one cares about the score.

That was impressive for what it was, but there literally was no defense in that game.

So.....Lying awake at times thinking about next years squad and literally find myself almost salivating at the idea of a frontcourt pairing of Naz Reid and Emmit Williams....add in the fact that the back court pairing of Waters and Smart will be the ones out there with them in the starting lineup....you'll see a player that's got some experience be the starter at the 3 because I just can't envision Wade deciding to start 4 true freshmen...so a possible Brandon Sampson or whoever could play the wing spot and provide much needed control and whatnot seeing as waters can't be expected to do it alone.....it all adds up to a team that will be the most formidable roster from top to bottom that we've seen since the final four team of 06. A possible run to the final four is something I believe is well within the realm of possibility and I think anything less than a berth in the sweet 16 is a let down. Basketball next season with LSU having it's best talent collection in a decade and the pelicans going to be building on this seasons run with a healthy boogie back in the fold....it's like the basketball gods have opened their hands and pickd the state of Louisiana up and blessed us with at least one season if true contention in both the college and pro games....cannot freaking wait man.

I just can't envision Wade deciding to start 4 true freshmen... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Seems to me the transfer Center from University of Oregon may break into the starting line up.

“We’re all going to eat.” - Sounds like the perfect teammate for our future basketball tigers. Gonna be a great year 2 for WW and company.
