“You don’t want to be frivolous,” Stricklin said on our Open Mike radio show the other day when talking about UF’s $130 million in upcoming projects that include $65 million for a new football facility, $50 million for a new baseball stadium and $11 million in improvements to the softball stadium. “We’re not going to have gold-plated toilets in any of these facilities. We’re not going to have waterfalls in the locker rooms. … You want to make sure you’re spending in a really smart way.

May not have gold toilets but this is going to be incredibly nice. The new Clemson facility everyone raves about cost $10 million less then we are spending.

Consider that Florida didn't actually start playing college football until 1990, the Gators have done pretty good with 3 NC's. Salute.

US News and World Report has Florida ranked 50th in the US, Alabama is 103rd. Maybe Florida is choosing wisely.

That has nothing to do with the lavishness of football or athletic facilities. Good try though, poor.

It has to do with intelligent resource allocation.

Bless their poor hearts. Maybe someone on the rant can start a Go-fund-me and collect money for Florida's football program?

How can a football facility cost more than a baseball stadium? I love football, but those are some pampered little bitches.

Because football generated more than 5x the revenue of all the other sports combined...

They make all the money yet you don't like the idea they should be well invested upon. You're a moron.

b/c the football facility is mostly indoors and requires far more things to get up to code than a mostly open air stadium filled with bleachers?
