My 15 year old self would have made sure that this guy's house was continually egged after this. Eggs were cheap back then...haha.

These things happen. A few months ago I was going to see a friend and instead of typing the code into this gated community I just followed the car in front of me. The guy in the first house in the neighborhood was working outside and saw this. He ran over to my car with a shovel and demanded I stop. Just as irate as this guy. People just suck.

Living under the commie mantra of "See something, say something", you're lucky he just didn't shoot your terrorist azz or call the cops and have them do it.

sounds like a typical president of HOA
way too much anger at kids fishing even if they were not authorized
not enough facts to judge too harshly either way but this guy was out of control

What’s the problem? He went off on a kid who was fishing? Probably some Yankee transplants who are just generally mad about everything.

I wish more kids would grab a pole and fish…instead of being online all day.

they all tried and some old dickheads snapped their poles.

Trespassing doesn't give one the right to destroy one's personal property. Childish adults.

That guy was a complete jerk (nice term). However when parents say stuff like "if that's my kid that guy would be in trouble" is part of the problem too. Us boomers know that when there was a problem we were never considered right even if you were. You respected adults (even that jackass) and let the police deal with it. Our parents would have a conversation with the guy but bowing up to that person shows your kids that they don't need to follow the rules (that is if they are on private property). Those boys did great job of restraining themselves. I think the jerk owes them for new rods/reels, and parents should press charges for what he did. Kids need to know if they were wrong and told don't do it again. Police will explain to the jerk with charges and restitution that he was wayyy out of line. Just because someone talks to your kids doesn't mean you have to bow up also and be a man-Karen. They your sons will not learn proper respect. As a kid back in 60s/70s we would have just left to stay out of trouble. If you teach your kids that you will want to bow up for this they will have missed a bigger lesson. We all want to protect our kids but lessons learned are better in this situation. You won't be able to teach that jerk anything but your son has many years and lessons to learn. Not trying to upset you bc we all wanna protect our kids.

Oh for fricks sake. When I was 15 if that old man was popping off to me or any of my friends for that matter we would have popped right back and ALL of our parents would have a big issue with that old a-hole.

Naw. When I was 15 if an adult approached me aggressively like that, talked to me like that, and broke my rod - my dad would have absolutely beat the shite out of him then called the police to deal with the situation.

Maybe the old guy's been fishing that pond for years and hadn't caught shitt. Thinks it's these lil fish thieves that keep him from landing that trophy bass...haha.

The writer of the article says it's a community pond. The old man said it's a private pond. There is a difference.

Private or community does not matter, you do not act like a child and bow up to a 15 year kid. If the kid is in the wrong, handle it like an adult, not a 70 year old toddler.

This is a situation where both parties are wrong (assuming the kids are on private property)… however, if another grown man bowed up to my child like that, he’d have a serious problem on his hands, provided that my child wasn’t being disrespectful to him.

How can you get that bent out of shape over two kids fishing? Breaking one of their rods and bumping and bowing up to them. I just don’t get it.

"We are going to prosecute you and you are going to pay all kinds of money because you're being a dick"
What judge is going to waste his time prosecuting a couple of 15 year old kids trespassing you old fart? You also commit battery when you grab something out of someone else's hand. The kid was no threat and it was not a weapon. I see more charges going the old man's way than these kids.

The man is clearly in the wrong. He should have called the police and politely had the kids removed. Doing all that extra stuff only makes the situation worse. He should be arrested for bumping into the kid and then breaking his pole. Not taking up for the kid, but at some point, the adult has to act like an adult!
