I've always said that since the "F you Saban" chants he vowed that he would never lose to LSU again. Now he is saying his team loses focus and discipline after playing LSU? Sounds like they are oversold on being focused and training 100% for the LSU game every year. May even help explain why teams like Auburn, Ole Miss, and A&M have beaten them, and even Arkansas can put up points while LSU gets dominated year in and year out.

Honestly I think what he's saying is that the LSU game marked the end of any sense of a somewhat competitive opponent for the regular season, and they lost focus after that. That said, he lost to Clemson because they were better than Bama. Not much more to it than that.

If anything he is saying that whipping our arse at home 29-0 in a highly anticipated game had them playing to loose and confident the rest of the year. Just psychology stuff to reference for upcoming years to stay focused and never let your guard down.

Kind of lays to rest the whole gump notion of "LSU is nobody to Alabama". Why would they have gotten complacent after an LSU victory if LSU is nobody?

I don't like alabama any more than I like having my teeth drilled. I'd probably rather have my teeth drilled than alabama win, especially if it was against LSU. I still feel if alabama and Clemson played 10 times that alabama team would win 6. And I believe if that alabama team played that LSU team 10 times LSU would win 3 and them 7. I understand what Saban is saying, he's saying they got over confident, cocky. When you playing against a team with the talent like Clemson, that one thing can kill you. Last season LSU lacked confidence going into that alabama game. On the offensive side at least. But the year before I think they had confidence and if Etling could have completed 2 easy passes to wide open receivers it's a tied game. People don't realize how important confidence is, whether it's lack of or too much. LSU didn't have enough against bama and bama had too much against Clemson. bama did not play their best. That team that played Clemson was not the same team that played LSU. The same only in name, not in mentality.

Now we are beating Bama by being blown out by Bama.
