Fox Sports analyst and former Alabama running back Mark Ingram was not happy with the College Football Playoff committee for leaving the Crimson Tide out in favor of SMU. Per On3:
quote:

“I’m hurt. I’m scolded,” Ingram said. “I think it wasn’t the right decision, especially with the ACC team that is in a weak conference. Quite frankly, they’re in a weak conference.

“And guess what? Nobody’s complaining about the Big 12 runner-up not getting punished. You get punished for losing. You get punished for losing a weak conference championship game.”

“You don’t get punished for a Big Ten championship game when it’s No. 1 versus No. 3. You don’t get punished for [losing] the SEC championship game when it’s No. 2 versus No. 5,” Ingram said. “When you play the eighth team versus the No. 17 team and you lose, you get punished for it.

“Nobody’s complaining about the Big 12 runner-up. So, if you play in a weak conference you got to win your conference, and if not you, get booted.”

I don't see how anyone would care that Ingram is "hurt" and "scolded" because bama was left out. They lost to vandy at home and only dropped 2 or 3 spots in the poles.... where any other top 10 team not named bama would have dropped 5-7 spots.

He is absolutely right. This happens in Basketball all the time. In weaker conferences if you don’t win the conference you don’t make the Tournament, even if you were a Top 25 team.

Do we really want a three loss national champion that lost to two teams that were both under .500 in conference play?
It appears that the committee allows for one mulligan per season and a loss versus a strong team.

Bama had two mulligans this season. Deal with it...

We want the best teams to be playing for the national title. That's it. If that means there is a 3-loss national champion, that's fine. Eventually, that is definitely going to happen.

You want in lose less. You want a easier schedule change conferences.

BTW: how many from one conference do you think we should appease?

If you want 12 or more team playoffs you apparently do. Surely you didn't think you could add 8 teams and somehow keep the same standards for what type of team could possibly win a national championship did you?
