Following the news from Monday that charges against Alabama football players Cam Robinson and Hottie Jones would be dropped, many argued that both played received preferential treatment.

Joe Guerriero, who serves as the lawyer for both players says that is not the case and released this statement.

Both players were arrested back on May 16th for possession of marijuana and illegal possession of a stolen firearm.

"that's not against the law in Louisiana" "but having the gun is not illegal" Really? Well possession of a legally owned weapon while not also in the possession of an illegal controlled substance and having the gun in open view inside of a car is actually very much legal. Too bad these idiots had a stolen gun and were simultaneously in possession of an illegal controlled substance. Which makes having the gun (that gun in that situation) very much illegal. No matter how their lawyer tries to spin it.

Then what kind of treatment did they receive? It sure as he'll wasn't the same treatment Lil' Rae Rae & Tiberious would have received.

Can't believe this lawyer said that. So freaking absurd! The two without guns got the preferential treatment??

This is too strange. I thought the gun was stolen? And when did we stop prosecuting drug possession because the amount was not worth the court's time? I bet there are thousands of brothers on probation who would have loved to have had that deal.

I have black client in Florida, with same situation half a joint and gun locked up in glove box, on Spring break which he promptly told police about, facing possible felony and 5 years with no priors, etc. He is waiting to join Marines if they don't indict him. Wish he was Bama football player instead of Ole Miss student and I guess this would just go away. Or I had this chicken shite DA.

It wasn't preferential treatment - any Alabama athlete would have gotten the same treatment.
