Alabama QB Jalen Hurts Gets Standing Ovation At His Graduation

I thought people had to stand for a standing ovation.

Considering that the entire place was applauding, it doesn’t seem too inconsiderate and I am guessing no one cried that their day was spoiled. It’s not like he or his family initiated it

I was there because my future daughter-in-law was getting her Master's Degree. There was no announcement to not applaud. The scatters of applause for each graduate was not loud enough to drown out the announcer. The applause for Hurts was the exception (Jaylen Harris also had a large ovation. His parents were sitting right behind us). After the applause died down, the announcer said the name of the woman behind him again, which got a laugh. Frankly, the way he has behaved this year would make him my favorite player, if I were not contractually obliged to hate him and his team.

Yes, Hurts should serve as a role model for selflessness and putting the team first. Class act and I wish him the best!!!
