If it's biodegradable or made from recycled paper, like my McDonald's bags or Sonic cups, I toss them.
Cane's styrofoam I toss in the trash, usually.
Also, throwing things on the ground is trashy. If you just bend over and place it neatly, it's not a big deal. People will think you're gonna come back to pick it up.

i live on the corner of two highways kind of in the country, one of which has a stop sign before going onto the other. you would be AMAZED at the shite i pick up in my yard on that stop sign side.

The real kicker is that lending for automobiles came back to life and now every complete loser has a sedan to drive around while flicking cigarette ash out the window and tossing styrofoam big gulp cups as well.
