I have a double hung wood frame window with a latch that broke off. We only knew it happened because our security system alerted us of an open window. When it broke, the top portion of the window slid down some, maybe an inch or so. I had to wedge a screw driver in place to keep the window up until I can get it repaired. Does anyone have any recommendations on a company that can repair it? Every one that I have talked to says they only repair windows that they installed.

Thanks in advance!

Try calling the manufacturer and asking who they use locally for warranty repairs.

Great advice. I assume the manufacturer would be somewhere on the window pane? The house was built in 97 and we bought it 2 years ago.

They make replacement latches that you can order. Just measure your screw hole spacing and then go to Amazon. It might not match the color perfectly, but it'll put the window upper sash back into its place.

rereading it said it was a wooden window. worst case scenario, get the windows back into place and pre-drill a hole through the upper and lower portions of the window and put two trim head screws in it.
