I'm looking to insure a rental house in Baton Rouge. I'm hearing that people are not writing landlord policies in Louisiana, but have just started calling around. State Farm just told me they weren't writing landlord policies in Louisiana. Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Foremost just wrote my LLC one last week.

They're still writing, just not as attractive as policies.

Contact someone like goosehead, they'll shop it for you and hit a pile of companies at once.

I recently went through this with renewal on a investment property outside of Nola (Harahan/River Ridge).

My premiums doubled. I'm with Sagesure currently - tried to shop and nothing came back competitive so I went with the renewal.

Agent I used said just a few years ago there were 30 carriers writing policies in southern LA, down to about 8.

Call an Independent Agent. We used Fourrier Insurance in Baton Rouge for a rental. State Farm hasn’t written rental policies in quite a while.

State Farm is still writing rental properties. Not sure why that agent told you that. You may have been ineligible.
