I'd be willing to bet you a $100 bill against a horse turd and you could hold the bet in your mouth.

1. I doubt Dale wrote that.
Sorry, the post should have said Coach sent him an email, not a letter. There is no link, I was copied on it.
Coach has no desire to participate in public gossip, if you knew hi you wouldn't make such an ignorant statement.
He did send this letter to Culotta:
Jordy, you should be ashamed of yourself for your totally false story and never having the courtesy to call me before you spoke your diatribe. Nothing could be further from the truth but it appears you were not looking for the truth. You are 100% wrong. Mark Twain said, " Never let the truth get in the way of a good story."
To set you straight, I love LSU, Baton Rouge, and Louisiana that is why we have lived here for 48 years. For you to use the words disgusting and sabotaging is really ludicrous. Contact Shaquille and ask him if I influenced his son not to attend LSU.
Maybe, you can learn from the following journalists and not make the same mistake again; I sure hope so. I carry no ill will toward you but hope you will be more prudent the next time someone gives you gossip which could not be further from the truth.
James Redfield in his book The Tenth Insight said, " I am a journalist. In the past we at least attempted to do our jobs with certain standards of integrity. But no longer. It is all hype and sensationalism and no one is looking for the truth anymore or trying to present it in the most accurate way. Journalists are looking for the scoop, the most outrageous perspective and every bit of dirt they can dig up."
Well respected journalist Howard Kurtz always tells it like it is. " We are the architects of our own misfortune, sacrificing our credibility for a misguided notion for what sells."
William Rhoden longtime credible reporter stated," The competition has created an instinctive twitch a sometimes dangerous reflex that acts without contemplating the cost in ruined lives and soiled reputations."
Don Graff in Newspaper Enterprise Association wrote a powerful article, Image Of The Press Is Now Dim. " The press, if we are to believe what we hear, is widely regarded as arrogant, overbearing, biased, and obsessed with sensation and more interested in getting a story than in the rights of individuals and the interests of the nation."

Let me know if you'd like to send an apology to Coach Brown.

Coach Will Wade's current year's Dayton

Better stick to the cinema, son. It seems you have no idea what you're talking about. The team he ACTUALLY coached this year (VCU) was not well segregated. No Caucasians...

Unfortunately, we were down to only "dozens of us" in the PMAC this year and that ain't gonna cut it.

Dale stays as our greatest coach ever. He's ok with that rather than the success of the team

That couldn't be further from the truth. Coach is in agony over the results this year. Johnny showed steady improvement over his first three years as he built his program but shite the bed last year. Quitting is like cancer. When Johnny quit on his team and their fans last year by not going to the NIT, the cancer grew and now the whole team finds it easier to quit. He should quit if he actually loves LSU.

Out of curiosity, who were the viable candidates outside of Jones?

Excellent point. You'd be surprised by the number of coaches that turned the job down before it was given to Johnny.

Commends Collis B. Temple Jr. for his continued commitment to LSU basketball.

I might by that if he showed up for more than one or two games a year but he's mostly been a no show since his boys left.

not because of the coach

You either didn't watch any games last year or you don't know shite about basketball.

Maybe both...
Damn!! This team sucks like no LSU team has ever sucked before. Bye Bye JJ...
quote:

You are referring to the days when Dale Brown was coach? How long did it take him to have a winning record in conference and make the ncaa tourney?

LSU's greatest coach started out with a winning season in 1972-73 14-10 (9-9) then went 12-14 (6-12), 10-16 (6-12), 12-14 (5-13). Three years after that we were in the top 10 and began a long run in the post season. It takes a little time to get the players you need to fit your style and JJ is way ahead of the pace Dale set. We've got a great class coming in next year with the #1 player committed for 2015. Dumping your coach after three years is a crappy way to build a program and those on this thread calling for him to be fired are dumbasses, especially those that do not attend the games.

JJ lost a very good assistant to Memphis last year, that hurt the defense. But, like Dale showed years ago, a good leader recognizes his weaknesses and brings in others with strengths in their weaker area(s). The game is too complex for one man to manage all phases and it is tough to recruit assistant coaches, too.

Be patient with JJ, we are on the right track.

If you thought CC was "a little heavy" did you see the infamous Anthony Wilson? As food manager at a casino he easily outweighs CC and is much shorter so it "kinda" shows a lot more.

IMHO - no.
What does a coach want out of his assistants?
1. Recruiting. I think they proved their worth (or lack of) in that arena.
2. Basketball knowledge. Did you see that offense they ran? What about their only out of bounds play? The one where they threw it across half court every time?
3. Teaching the fundamentals. Sorry, there's not enough space here to list their shortcomings.
4. Offspring. Nick Robinson's boys will both be good basketball players. But they're both under 5 and that's too long to wait.

Their wagons are tied to Trent.

As a fan who have been to more basketball games than football games this is an underwhelming hire. Sorry if that pisses you off.

No need to apologize, I am not pissed off at all. I just wanted to give the F-tards a chance to identify themselves and it seems to have worked...

One thing for sure about Johnny being hired - it makes it easier to identify the true Tiger fans on this site.

Non-fans = F tards still pissing and moaning about why JJ shouldn't be hired and who should have.

True fans = Congratulations Johnny, we'll see you en masse at the PMAC.
quote:

I hate to sound ignorant, but what did Roy Williams do to hurt LSU??? I didn't follow this situation much at all. I know it had to do with the recruitment of Lester Earl. I know he commited to LSU but never played. I know Earl did play at Kansas. I always assumed that he was recruited illegally, and that LSU did do something wrong.

Lester did play for LSU. He started several games early as a freshman but soon proved he only had two shots - a dunk and a missed dunk. He was a man among boys in HS but in college he truly sucked and when he was told he wouldn't start he quit.

Roy "piece of crap" Williams' involvement came when he ILLEGALLY recruited a player that was on scholarship with another school (LSU) but because Roy was coaching in the town that was home to the Gestapo bastards at that time, neither he nor the school ever got as much as a slap on the wrist while LSU was bent over and violated.

There were no violations, only lies that Lester tried to undo fifteen years later (presumably because he was down and out and needed Dale's help and forgiveness).

Granted, Lester was only 19 at the time and faced with never being allowed to play in the NCAA unless he fingered Dale but quitting and lying are not traits that serve you well in life.

Though they could get you a $2 million coaching job...

Never fear, Collis has promised we can sign every Louisiana prospect. He's in the bag...

In all seriousness to the OP, I think the boosters who wanted Jones would have just been very lukewarm in recommending LSU but they wouldn't negatively recruit. I can't imagine they would be such Judases.

Collis has been doing it for four years. Imagine that, Judas...
