Nathan doesn't care. He did his fighting a long time ago and is resting.

These childish statue removing clowns will never achieve, the good and the bad, that Bedford and the others who had statues made to honor them, did.

They just dug up his and his wife’s bodies a month or so ago.

I'm not okay with the removing statues crowd, but General Froest shouldn't have been there in the state capital in the first place.

It's crazy how that slippery slope turned into a landslide suddenly just like every time you give a liberal an inch

Don't worry, it'll all be over when all the Confederate monuments are taken down.

Due to his history, I don't disagree with this at all. However, I do still think it's hard to judge historical figures by the morals of today.

They were actually moved to the place where they were originally buried. In 1904 they moved him him and his wife to the park.

People who continually parrot this line have no knowledge of the man, his time, or his greatness as a military commander. It is the equivalent of summing up George Washington by saying "he had slaves" or Patton by saying "he slapped his troops." If you'd like to educate yourself, check out VDH's take on the significance of Forrest. Runs from 8:40 to around 15:00 if you have ADD.

Exactly. Name someone else even close to the brilliance and ferocity of entering the military as a Private and leaving Lieutenant General… in 4 years…. with zero prior military training…. and having a continual large amount of untrained and inexperienced men due to other commands siphoning away his resources. His tactics in single battles were thought in full courses at military colleges.

And being the first grand wizard of the KKK? He started the organization in aid for confederate widows, orphans, and war disabled. When many members the group turned to violence against blacks… he ordered the group disbanded in 1869… only to find he had lost control and he left.

I had two ancestors serve under him. Both on my father’s side. One was on my grandfather’s side and one on my grandmother’s. One joined with him in Memphis when he first recruited and the other in 1864 when he was having to recruit again in Northern Mississippi. Both were at Brices Crossroads but didn’t know each other. I wish I could hear their stories of their time.

We should learn from Forrest instead of removing him. I don't care much for statues in general but to write him off as simply a racist is ignorant. He was a terrific military mind, one of the best in this country's history

Yeah, I see the argument keeping Robert E Lee statues up, but Nathan Bedford Forest was a complete scumbag. I don’t have a major problem with this.
