Get a feel for what we can and cant do.

For example, if we run a play or two that they cannot stop, put that shite on the shelf for Texas. If they stop somthing cold, work on it at practice.

The whole "hide the playbook" thing is quite frankly idiotic and serves no purpose other than not getting better at it.

Texas is too special to not hide a few things.

Horns down...

I hope we run the full offense long enough to build a cushion and get our rhythm

I hope thaT this doesn't require showing every play in the book

It’s NOT a foreign language...

They don’t use EVERY play in the book every game. And they happen to have these 5 weekly meetings called practice.

The offense WILL be more wide open, whether we are dipping into a ‘secret playbook’ or not. We have already seen evidence with our own eyes from Spring Game.

I'd love to see that, too. But seriously doubt that will happen.

No compelling tactical reason to do it. And why spoil all the surprises for Texas?

Because we're a more talented team?

Come out and blow them out of the stadium.

There are tougher opponents than Texas on our schedule. I'm not saying take Texas lightly, but if we're going to make a statement this season, now is the time. We're more talented than Ga. Southern. No one is expecting an LSU loss. That said, it's time we put the "playing down to opponents" nonsense in the garbage can.

If the HC on the other side of the field had the resources that O has at his disposal, he'd do exactly that, coach to win and make a statement.

I guarantee you that Alabama, Auburn, Florida, even Moo State and Ole Miss will have eyes on that game.

Make a statement. This team is loaded.

I'm sick of this "secret playbook" nonsense and playing down to lesser teams. We've been doing this for almost a decade and it's time to stop it. Run the score up, then take out your starters. I'm reminded from reading articles like, "we're going to score 40, 50, 60 points a game." Show me. Show me and you'll convince me. This isn't a shot at O or Burrow or anyone actually. We've had this habit for a long time and it needs to just go away. Your team is better than their team. Build on that.

We'll see what happens in less than a week. Thank goodness.

A Game Plan usually consist of 15-20 plays. The entire Playbook my be 200 plays. Game Week you work on the plays in the Game Plan.

All I'm saying is let's stop playing down to lesser opponents.

Again, I don't want my posts to be interpreted as rude or disrespectful. Just want to see us come out and run the other team out of the stadium.

Well said Birdman!! I feel the same way- play hard to win big, then take out the starters in the beginning of the 4th qtr when we are up 45-7

I think the joke, as well as the source of our offensive woes over the years, has been the fact that there never has been a secret playbook.

What you’re really saying is “Beat every team by a lot.”

To restate it another way, it’s “Be successful”.

Often we forget that there is another team out there trying to win. Our team is trying their hardest. Now, when the game is out of hand they will, and should, take their foot off the gas by playing younger players. This is good sportsmanship, gains experience for the youngsters, and minimizes injuries to your key guys.

Penrod,

I'm greedy therefore want the backups and younger players (3rd team) to play hard and try to score, because they don't get many chances. And if we have to play them, then we are up by a good margin, but they should have the normal play book to run plays from, except a deep pass, so they can gain experience but more so, confidence for when its their turn to be backups or starters
