Looking to find my club distances. I have a round about but would love to see what my actual distances are. Don't really know where to do that around here, especially with COVID..

Don't use a range. The range balls won't behave the same as your normal ball will. I'm not sure if the Edwin Watts bay is open, but golftec has a launch monitor that could give you numbers that are generally close. Again, make sure you're using YOUR ball.

The best way to know is to go out and play a few times alone. Bring your range finder and fire away at some pins from different distances. Over time, you get a really good feel for your distances. And eventually, you know how temp, lie, shot shape will change those distances.

Thanks for the info. I'll take this into consideration. I guess I need to pick up a range finder. I've been using the 18 birdies app but I know it isn't totally accurate.

My wife is going to kill me if I keep spending money on golf. LOL

Once I got a range finder I got to know my distances so much better.

I even shoot yardage down to 40 yards and even less sometimes. It’s helped my less than full swings.

OP, launch monitors can be deceptive. I would do what others have suggested and either walk off distances in a big field or shoot them with a range finder.

Range finders can be had for cheap and will help you in the long term if you plan on sticking with golf.

There are also apps that you can use on your phone that will keep track of clubs and distances if you want to avoid spending a lot on a finder.

Yeah i got an app on my phone but I don't feel its very accurate. My buddy brought his rangefinder when we played last weekend to see the difference and the app was off up to 10yds in some areas.

I have a bushel tour v5. Like it. Haven’t used any other brands so can’t give you much input.

Geez, 300 bones. This is going to make me ditch a rangefinder and grab a new driver LOL

That's because you were probably guessing on pin placement with the app.

In terms of measuring yardage for clubs, you'd be getting a distance from divot to ball mark and not pinpointing an actual object.

I’ve heard good things about the precision pro. Thinks it’s about $200

one more question..

Is it worth getting the slope reading one or not? I know im personally not close to that helping me now but I'd be hanging on to this for years to come so.

I don’t have that feature. If I played in mountain or very hilly areas most of my rounds I might get it. South Louisiana is very flat so didn’t think it was worth the $$

Where do you play mostly? If flat, then not necessary IMO.

mine does not have one and I dont feel like I miss it. I am in the low 80s typically

Also, I picked up a Nikon CoolShots on ebay for like $50 used.

damn ill have to check out ebay. I play here around town mostly so I doubt it's hilly enough to make that big of a difference.

Got a TecTec a few years ago, fairly inexpensive as far as rangefinders go (most likely could get it for cheaper than the link below if you look somewhat hard) and it works very well until about 275 yds for pins then you may need a bigger target than the flag to laser after that (never matters for me, ha) ... and just laser a few targets on the range, find the club that consistently flies it there. Then just anticipate a slight margin of error for range balls
