re: LSU football retiring #4 jersey

Posted by EvilMaddie on 5/22/25 at 10:25 pm
Under a provision of the LSU jersey retirement bylaws established Jan. 1, 2007, the retirement of an athlete's jersey in a particular sport does not preclude a current student-athlete in that sport from wearing the jersey number in that or any other sport, subject to the discretion of the head coach. This provision applies only to jerseys retired after January 1, 2007. The numbers worn by Maravich, Pettit, O'Neal, Cannon and Bertman may never again be worn by future student-athletes in their respective sports.

We've run one for a year with a polaris also in the pool. It was annoying how often it would get stuck on the floating hose. Last week, i wrapped fishing line across the legs and put it back in the pool.... hasn't gotten stuck again.
Really great location to get places in the city. In addition to mentioned above, the Wakefield area is under rated. Great Heights is a great brewery and the new d'Alba is a nice addition for food.

Biggest drawback: That Kroger sucks

I have several Makita 18v tools including the trim router and three or four saws. But the batteries also go in my lawn mower, trimmer, and blower. Happy with them.

Oak Forest (crazy seeing so many people in OF and GO) and we have power and water. In-laws on the east side have no power. Co-worker in Galveston out since monday AM. Buddy in magnolia got power back at 4am. Have friends near the park in OF that have been without power since yesterday.

It's '03 for me but they are all special. I remember going to games with my dad in the 90's and we would have 10 tickets, in the lower bowl, and couldn't give them away. I was in school for the Saban years and the game day experience was just next level compared to just a few years before. I mean, just a few years before we were excited about the independence bowl. The '01 Sugar Bowl was surprising and the '03 NC just came quick. Was a good time to be in BR. Can't imagine what last year was like though.
Hit us with the same BS. When we sold our house in Louisiana, our insurance policy became Blah Blah of Texas instead of blah blah of Louisiana. I left a vehicle at my dads while we were getting settled and they said that my carrier for 6 months was not licensed to issue insurance in Louisiana. The truck never left LA. Nine years later they sent us the notice of a crazy fine we owed.
Luckily my parents are crazy with keeping records and we had proof of insurance and the bill of sale showing it stayed in Louisiana and had insurance. After six months of silence, I got an email saying the case was settled. F'um
You should nominate him. Reality is there are just so many great athletes that some are over looked.
When I was in my 20's, the wife (no pics) and I were at Rouses getting stuff for dinner. Had a full cart; beer, stuffed peppers, a t-bone, and she wanted a filet. She asked the butcher for one and he told her all they had was out on the shelf. So I grabbed a pack of 2 and asked him if he could split the pack so she could have one. This was pre-OT baller status and I wasn't paying for an extra steak. He looked at me and said "once their wrapped, I don't split them." I don't know what it was but I just lost my mind. Dumped the whole cart of groceries into the meat cooler, dropping every curse word I knew in his direction, and then we left.
Then I do the ultimate Karen and email corporate. Well I'm a Jr. and the next day my dad is in the Rouses. The manager runs up to my dad and gave him a bottle of wine and apologized for the day before. Dad calls me laughing and kept the wine for himself.
This was the exact game that came to mind for me as well. A friend and I were at the game and were so excited when LSU took the lead.

In '07 I nearly broke up with my girlfriend (now wife/no pics) after the Arkansas loss.

re: Toyota Land Cruiser vs. Sequoia

I have owned an '85, '89, '94, and 2013 Landcruiser. My dad had a 2012 Sequoia.
Pros on the Sequoia: Lots more interior space, second row seats had a tilt function, larger gas tank, more family features like cup holders and screens on the windows.

Cons: I thought it was too big. I don't have kids and don't need the additional space. I also felt it was too wide on the inside. Like they had to make things cartoonishly large to fit the space.

LC Pro: I've never, in 17 years, brought any of these in for anything beyond basic maintenance. I think the LC is the perfect size. Slightly larger than a 4runner but not these land yachts that can't be parked. It is perfectly reliable and as comfortable on the highway as it is in the rain offroad.
LC Con: Gas tank is small. It is hard to go from Houston to Baton Rouge on one tank. You can do it if there is no BS on the causeway. The middle seat flips up which kills some cargo room. We tend to just lay the back down and put stuff (like a sheet of plywood) on top the leather. It isn't common; crook breaks a window, expect to wait for parts to be shipped in. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of other cars in the price point. The tech is lacking and it isn't as trimmed out for the money (that's how they separate it and the Lexus)

I've had lots of cars and like most of them. I love Land Cruisers. They are just different than everything else. As long as they're sold in America I'll have one in my driveway.

re: Working from home survey

If your job has transitioned to you working from home,

How did the transition go?
I started out with something temporary in the living room, but once I realized this wasn't going to be a two week thing, I cleaned up my home desk and treat it like work.

Are you more or less efficient?
WAY more efficient. I was in corporate and all these higher-ups would stop by to chat. Nothing kills progress like stopping every 30 mins because a VP wants to tell you a story.
The other big positive is the Teams meetings. My job role is spread out with one or two people in each region. this is the first time we've ever collaborated real-time on projects and it's been great.

Has your compensation been affected? How?
No affect. They did have layoffs a few weeks back but it was just cutting dead weight.

What do you enjoy about working from home?
I love it. Biggest thing is wearing shorts and no commute. And the commute is both ways. If I'm rolling on something in the afternoon I keep going. Before I was watching the clock and thinking about traffic on the way home.

What’s been the biggest challenge?
Wife (no pics) and I were both in the same room the first two weeks. Once I got out of there and set up my own spot it's been golden.
Also, early on I upgraded from AT&T's shitty wifi to a mesh system. That's been huge. Better printer would be nice too.

What is your company telling you about timelines for returning to pre ‘Rona normalcy?
We get an email every few weeks that just says keep on doing what you're doing. They don't say it, but I think they don't want to adsorb the cost associated with cleaning the office. Cost of cleaning supplies and "professionals" to wipe down high traffic areas is out of control.

Which changes could stick around once this is all over?
I could see when the lease is up for renewal they shrink our office footprint. We have 5 floors of a building now and I could see that being cut in half.
What was great about the early part of the decade was the build up. I remember the excitement when DiNardo made it to two bowl games in a row, then Saban wins the SEC Championship (even making that game was a wild ride), then the NC... The climb is what made it exciting. Expectations kill some of the shine for teams since.
This, be prepared with questions to ask them.

Also, don't just prepare answers to questions. Have someone actually ask you the questions and let you respond. Do this a few times. The same questions over and over. It will help on the spot when you are trying to find the right words.
