How Golden State's failure is key to our success
Posted by Ruler1 on 6/8/19 at 1:54 am
We all agree that Boston's assets trumps all competitors that are bidding in the Anthony Davis sweepstakes. Problem is, with Kyrie's free agency uncertainty, many beg the question will Boston be willing to pony up their treasure chest of assets with the risk of losing AD in the following summer due to the departure of Irving
Golden State's failure is key because it increases the likelihood of Durant staying put in the Bay Area
See Durant loves the GS organization; he loves their play style and meshes well - for the most part - with the personalities that make up their roster. GS is the perfect franchise for his team oriented personality and under ideal circumstances, he would never entertain leaving.
Problem is, since joining GS, KD has been heavily disrespected and his peak achievements (championships, finals mvps) minimized due to joining an all time great team at the time
Any all-time great player who have accomplished what KD has in recent years would expect to be respected and admired at the minimum - instead, he's experienced the opposite
Now with GS current struggles without KD in the finals, it changes the narrative and highlights KD's value and necessity and illustrates his importance to the Warriors. Something he's always desired since coming to the Bay Area; a since of belonging, and now he's about to have it
This new narrative imo, is what will motivate him and give cover, if you will, to return to the GS Warriors.
This potential decision has a direct link to our desired result: a confidant, emboldened , Wheeling and dealin Danny Ainge.
Let me explain...
See, other then AD, Durant is the only one imo, who has the star power to lure Kyrie to another team. So if I'm Ainge, who's in this pressure cooker of a situation who's looking to make a big franchise altering decision to better position his team for winning championships in the future, but see a few potential pitfalls as he surveys the NBA landscape that can potentially set the franchise back many years and put them back in another rebuild process; if I'm him, I'm looking for any sign or indication that suggest a trade for AD will not result in a disaster - i.e. Kyrie leaving, which would increase the likelihood of AD bolting the following season and leaving me empty handed with a lost of assets.
One of those signs are GS's failure without Durant.
See if Boston makes the trade with NO, it would be prior to the NBA draft, at least in principle; being that draft picks will be involved and NO will want to choose their own players, although Boston will be the one selecting. This scenario with kyrie's uncertainty exposes Boston to significant risk. But as I've said, with GS's failure without Durant, it significantly reduces risk to trade for Ad because it increases the likelihood of KD staying put in the Bay, which takes away incentive for Kyrie to sign elsewhere, be it Brooklyn or NY Knicks without having a tier 1 star to team up with. Essentially leaving him we no other sensible option but to resign with the new retooled Anthony Davis included roster; along with a 220 plus million contract.
This NBA finals has the potential to further embolden Danny Ainge in his pursuit of his dream target, Anthony Davis. Not to mention the effect of the gamble on the part of Toronto in the trade of Kawhi Leonard and how that move looks to be paying off in a potential championship.
All these things imo are circling in the mind of Ainge, and are greatly contributing to him going all in this summer in the Anthony Davis sweepstakes
And obviously that's good for us

Take Smart out. You're wasting your time including him in hypotheticals that will never materialize. Replace him with Jalen Brown and you'll be closer to reality
re: Fletcher’s source says AD to Boston

No they will not have to do it. Boston know NO will not turn down a package of Tatum, Brown, picks etc. NO most certainly want Smart, but Boston will not give him up. He's too important to the team's culture; and they won't have to, due to other assets
No, it is extremely likely that we will get both Tatum and Brown. It's actually guaranteed. One reason why is because the Celtics are going to refuse to give up Smart -- watch and see -- we will NOT get Smart whatsoever. The value of Smart to the Celtics is astronomical. They will not part with him

Agreed
re: Official AD Trade Thread - 6/4 - Griff is fielding offers

Also legacy. Who wouldn't want to be able to say after they retire that they mentored and player with a mega superstar in Zion

I would not be surprised. Especially if Jrue is traded
Unfortunately for him, once Ainge put all the required chips on the table, those teams won't be the preferred destinations for Griff/Langden

What are those signs you speaks of? Rumors???
Also, you and others are looking at this upside down.
If Ainge brings in AD (and he will) Kyrie will not leave that situation
Kyrie is not leaving the ability to play with AD, 220 plus mil contract, and a storied franchise behind. Not gonna happen
Ainge is about surprise a lotta people.
Everyone thinks this decision relies on Kyrie. Nope
Ainge is confident Kyrie will not walk away from a roster that includes Anthony Davis
People are making this more complicated then it should be
Acquisition of AD = Kyrie staying
Ainge has been preparing for this moment for years. He is all in - all chips on the table
Also, with Giannis, Embid and possibly Kawhi in the East for years to come, AD is the only realistic option, coupled with Kyrie, for the Celtics to compete for championships in the new East
Ainge will not allow AD to land in his backyard (NY, BRKLYN) or their historical rival (Lakers) and lure Kyrie with him without a fight. And when it comes to assets, that's a fight he can win. - and he shall by any means.
Ainge has been lusting after AD's talent and skill set since he came into the league and now is his moment to attain his most prize possession, his one true love, Anthony Davis. You better believe he's ready to pounce and is ready to pull the trigger. He's even gone so far as to develop a dossier concerning AD -- talk about obsessive
Do not doubt the Celtics' desperation. They want to compete for championships now; and they view AD is their solution.
Sit back and watch this outcome materialize. The blind LA/NY biased media won't see it coming

Will be rerouted at some point for more assets
Nah, a lot people are expecting Smart to be in the deal. They are mistaken
Many also believe we won't get both Tatum and Brown. They are also mistaken
Also, I'm speaking in absolutes. This outcome is 100 percent certain
Just like a said Jrue will be traded at some point this year - also 100 percent certain
Therein lies the difference... I've already seen the outcome, therefore I can speak in absolutes, unlike others
I know I'll be mocked in the meantime, but because I know in the end I will be right and proven correct, I'm willing to make such predictions
Also, I just get a kick out telling the future before it happens and seeing it manifest just as I saw it

AD is headed to Boston
Incoming: Tatum, Brown picks etc.
Will NOT get Smart
This outcome 1000% guaranteed
You heard it here first
Oh, also, Brown will NOT be here long term

Would #6 and Mikal Bridges interest many here?
This is what I hope will happen.
Take Coby White with the 6th pick, bring in Mikal Bridges, who projects to be an elite 3 and D player, as well as their Bucks' pick next draft.
Would be perfectly happy with this result

Would love to acquire the 6th pick to get Coby White
He's the most slept on in the top ten who will prove to be better than some picked before him
Coby and Zion in transition would be electric. Hope we get em

Man I wish we could acquire SGA without trading AD. I'm not sure they would even accept Jrue for 'em. His upside is so high
A core of SGA, Tatum and Zion would be amazing.

Lol. Spoken like a true idiot.

You sound like a fool. Go to bed, u don't know enough
I was the only one that knew the season was gonna be a disaster before it even began, simply do to dreams. Try again

Let's see if ur gonna be laughing when the trade for ur precious Jrue materializes
That's an external perception of him. That's not how he sees himself

Phoenix: #6 pick/player and another future first
Clippers: SGA plus future first(s)
It would have to be in the ballpark of this imo
