May have to go rewatch that play but it looked like he did everything right on that one( dropped to his knees, put his glove down) but ball took a crazy hop and bounced off his chest.
First year is always the hardest in a coaching change. Things are changed from previous years and some players accept them and some don’t. Also some of the holdover players have stronger alliances to previous staph than the new coaches which can cause friction. Hopefully things will improve sooner rather than later.

Started school in 1963 and leaving stadium after 1st game all you heard was Go to Hell Ole Miss.

You’re right about the flags on south end . There was one for each SEC school. Several of th metal flagpoles were broken by th wind. At times it was raining so hard you couldn’t see the field.

Miami 1988. Missed some plays because couldn't see the field. Wind blowing so hard the flag poles on end of stadium were breaking. Then early 2ond half lighting got worse with one bolt striking near the stadium. No lightening delays in those days.

I certainly don't agree with some of hie decisions(many of the hit and runs) but he has a heck of a record. But to me the main indecator of him being a good coach is seeing other coaches sending their sons to play for him.

What ever is going to happen in selecting a new coach will happen no matter who you pull for. If you're rooting for the opponent you are not a true Tiger fan.
