They have been running fiber lines along the main highway in front of our subdivision for past few weeks. How long does it usually take for them to run the fiber into the neighborhood and get it up and running?

Do those lines go to your neighborhood?

Not the new lines. I figured after they run the main fiber along the highway they would come run fiber lines into the subdivision.

If it is anywhere like where we live and another company provides high speed gigabit service... then basically never.

They prioritized places that did not have existing competitors, which is not surprising.

Honestly though really impossible to know, I would assume in the next 5 years?

Go on the AT&T site and register - you will get a text when it becomes available. Could be tomorrow - could be 2 years from now

About 5 years ago, ATT ran fiber down the main road in front of the subdivision I lived in. 6 months later, there were signs all over about fiber coming soon. They were done within the year. That's just my experience with it.

Did not even think about this. Damn Cox cable screwing me over and forcing me to stay with them again

It could honestly be 5-10 years to run off a main trunk to a neighborhood.

Do you have cable internet or other internet already?
If not, probably quicker. If so, probably not a priority.

We currently have 2 options for internet. Cable and AT&T DSL both of which have meh speeds and high prices for our area.

You can't splice in fiber like that(well you can, but it's difficult and requires equipment). I would presume, if they are running lines down the road and there's an unserved neighborhood they would run lines there as well. In that case, maybe 6 months to a year.

If they didn't specifically plan on adding your subdivision, who knows.

Contractors ran the inner duct, the orange conduit, in my neighborhood between about April 10th and about April 25th. I got a text and an email earlier today stating it was available. I have an install scheduled for Monday. Going from 75Mbps on copper to 500Mbps on fiber and bill is staying exactly the same.

I accidentally ordered the 5,000Mbps package at first because I screwed up placing the order on my phone. I had a surprisingly easy time getting it corrected to something a little more reasonable. The monthly bill for 5,000Mbps is $189 in case anyone was wondering lol.

They are running the orange conduit along the main highway now. Installed one of those big brown boxes in the ground in front of our street this week where the conduit was sticking up out of the ground last week.

Depending on your location, AT&T is supposed to be phasing out it overhead lines and switching to inground wiring.

Hurricane Ida made them made them to decide to bury all fiber optic cables after the storm in Southeast Louisiana.

They are putting those polls in yards stating to be careful AT&T fiber is underground.
