Because there is hardly anything else to get excited over- soccer is extremely boring to watch- not surprised a paper airplane illicited the most cheers of the day. Hilarious and very telling. Get a life people.

Soccer is boring

that's more scoring than normally happens in soccer, so I can understand the fan's excitement. Soccer has so much potential, but the absurd rules make it so hard to actually score goals, and PK's from penalties are a draconian penalty for nearly all penalties in the box and they affect the game far too much. Open up the rules, makes average score 6-5, and even I will start watching.
