“I thought to myself, ‘I want to be the next Kirk Herbstreit,’” Klatt told Andrew Marchand in a profile for The Athletic.

“Anytime any executive asked me what my ultimate goal was or dream was, I would always tell them, ‘What I’m doing now is great, but what I’d really love is to be a network’s lead college football game analyst,’” Klatt told The Athletic.

Like Herbstreit, Klatt has his own ideas on how to “fix” college football.

“The one that the coaches talk about most is the calendar. I firmly believe that a lot of things would get fixed, if we focused on fixing the calendar. The way that I would phrase it is that we need to do what everyone else does. We need to compete, then we need to roster build, and then we need to prepare. And those 3 chunks need to be separate versus overlapped. Right now, they’re overlapping, and it presents a huge problem,” he told The Athletic.
