Another vote for Leavenworth. It's a Bavarian mountain town. Downtown buildings are modeled after European Chalets. Excellent German food.

Friend,
One of our OT friends compiled the 2019 Advent Journey into an coffee table book on Amazon. I believe if you Google TulaneLSU Advent it is easily found. It is not very interesting, I must warn you and the content is readily available in digital form at no charge on the OT. Most of my real writings, which are religious in nature, are published under a pseudonym and are not available for purchase. Perhaps one day I will get around to organizing my New Orleans writings into a collection. Several people (3) have requested one.
Grand Isle is a beautiful place especially in December. It is odd that its inclusion here was upsetting to some. Perhaps it does not click all the Travel Magazine boxes for places to visit that will impress your neighbors and colleagues. Nonetheless, it is most certainly a great place to go Christmas caroling. But the greatest of all caroling events is the one in Jackson Square. What a loss we experienced when it was canceled for two years, depriving all of us, young and old, of something so touching.
Yours,
TulaneLSU

If I may ask who are your favorite religious writers?

Yep. Leavenworth is amazing in the summer. Christmas would be out of this world.

Friend,
My favorite religious writers are St. Paul, St. Augustine, Athanasius, Thomas of Aquinas, Bonaventure, John Calvin, Descartes, Jonathan Edwards, Isaac Watts, Pascal, Kierkegaard, Barth, Bruner, Reinhold Niebuhr, Weil, and Wittgenstein. Those whose literature has religious themes I particularly enjoy include Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, John Bunyan, John Donne, George Herbert (no relation to Robert of Thibodaux), Walker Percy, George Washington Cable, and Norman MacLean.
Yours,
TulaneLSU

We've done Christmas in Napa several times and it's awesome.

Solvang, CA. It's a Danish town that puts on a big Christmas festival and, though touristy, still feels European.
We stayed there for a wedding in Feb, I can imagine Christmas there is pretty neat. I absolutely loved that town. Cleanest place I've ever seen.

Since you are in S Georgia.
Thomasville or Thomaston is nice for a short getaway.
One of those places is a crap hole. I get them mixed up.

10. Lake Buena Vista: we stayed at the Grand Floridian last year at Christmas. The tree and the Magic Kingdom were beautifully decorated. Commercial though it was, there was a joyful spirit of Christmas throughout the air. And the weather was perfect.
TulaneLSU showing us he's a baller. What do you do for a living? Grand Floridian at Christmas is 700+ a night.

Carlsbad is awesome to visit. It’s a small niche beach community about 2 to 2 and a half hours from LA. There’s no homeless people, it’s extremely clean, and there’s tons of beachfront resort hotels that go for $250-300 a night
