In the past the wife and I would stay at nice hotel in NO and have a nice dinner and breakfast before heading back to Baton Rouge.
I’m interested in something different and need ideas. Open to restaurant suggestions in BR to driving up to 3 hours one way.
This doesn’t happen often so I don’t mind a splurge.

Why not go stay in Saint Francisville at a B&B for the night? They usually have a restaurant on site that has a good meal and it is a way to get away and just relax

Probably a little long of a drive for one night, but the Marriott Grand Hotel in Point Clear, AL is nice. The shopping in Fairhope would probably make the wife happy.
Maybe look at a little inn or B&B in Bay St. Louis or somewhere in that area.
If you want to make the most of limited time and do want to splurge, go stay at one of the cottages at Houmas House and eat at their restaurant. Before dinner drinks at the Turtle Bar are a must.

past the wife and I
My wife and I would find a good course outside of the city and get in a quick round of 18 (she enjoys Golf as much as I do); then find a great restaurant in the area. Last time we did this, we took a quick trip to the Gulf Coast and played at one of the courses tied to a casino (don't recall which one).

Gulf Shores, Perdido area for a condo on the beach. Rental rates should be low this time of year.

Wake up naked in the morning, drink hot coffee and read the newspaper.
Just like the good ole days.

+1 on the Southern in Covington
How about staying overnight at Houmas House? On site dining, so you can drink and stagger back to your room.

Thanks guys. Leaning towards Houmas house or southern.
Waiting to hear back from Houmas house, Latil’s Landing only takes/opens for an 8 party reservation. Lady stated they may accommodate the two of us if they have other 8+ parties.
Should we head to Covington where should we eat? Seafood, steak, sushi are our usually go to foods. Neither of us are picky eaters
