Bored to shite waiting in line at ohare for takeoff (#30/50) and wondering what the worst delay on a flight everyones had. Only other memorable delay was leaving newark on a monday morning at 930am, waited about 2 hours from congestion.
If the pic is too big I'm sorry, trying to fix it

I've had a few out of IAH that were terrible because take-offs were restricted to one runway. I've had a few ground stops issued from ATL to us in JAX, MSY, and BTR prohibiting us from departing to ATL. All in all, probably 60-80 minutes would be my longest without the ability to get off the plane.

One Winter while connecting in Denver. We waited on the Tarmac for a window to fly out, plus they had to de-ice the planes right before take off, was probably a couple hours.

In a plane about 30 minutes, in an airport about 5 hours.

Had tickets for a flight that didn't exist.. It was the day that the old printed books changed to the new book, and I held tickets to a flight. Desk person wondered why all these folks were running down an EMPTY hallway. Admitted she had NEVER seen that one before. Delta ended up booking us home first class..

Sounds like my trip last week.

You beat me.
I think my worst was flying to BOS via ATL and being in a 1.5 hour or so conga line for takeoff.
Not as bad was a few hours delay leaving Rhodes, but at least we were in the airport in the Mediterranean.

Couple years ago, I was going to California and we had a ground delay in Denver because of the weather (3 degrees) and didn't take off for about an hour and a half.

Flying out of Louisville. Late afternoon during the summer. Skies to the west were black and to the east blue. They hustled us on the plane hoping to beat the storm. We didn't. We taxi for 30 seconds and stop. Looking out the right side of the plane I see a tornado touch down probably about a mile away. Captain comes on to tell us not to worry the plane is stable against winds up to xxx miles an hour.
Plane was vibrating like one of those old beds you use to stick quarters in. We were on the ground for at least an hour. It got hot as hell.

Seattle to Houston a few weeks ago on United. 4 hours on the ground before takeoff.
We board, they close the doors then there's a maintenance problem. 1 hour.
After that's done, the pilot informs us that weather in Houston has caused a re-route-over Little Rock! So they spend 1/2 hour plugging the numbers into the computer before we taxi. We get out toward the runway then the plane moves off to the side to let other flights pass through. We're now at 2 hours.
The pilot then announces that there's another re-route so we sit on the taxi way while they plug in the new route. But after the new route is plugged in guess what-we don't have enough fuel for the new route.
So back to the gate we go-but it's a Delta gate and not a United gate. Several passengers wanted to get off and change flights but there was no United agent there to take care of them so we sat as they found a United agent and also fueled up. Another hour-at 3 hours+ now.
We finally fuel up, pull out of the gate and head to the taxi way. We get to the end of taxi lane and then sit. The pilot announces that he's plugging in another re-route. Finally after 4 hours we take off. And guess what-we fly directly to Houston with no re-route.
I had a window seat in first class so I watched the route. I told the air matron to keep plying me with scotch till my eyes close. What a trip...it sucked.
TL/DR-United flight to IAH 4 hours...

Once when flying in a Shitook, we had to land at Whiteman AFB, Missouri & spend the night, because of thunderstorms the Shitooks couldn't go around.

I just completed the longest flight delay of my life. Flight out of portland maine to ATL was supposed to leave at 6:45pm. My ATL to Pensacola flight was supposed to leave at 10:45ish. Portland flight got delayed and didn't arrive until 11:30. Arrived in ATL at 2am-ish. 5 hour layover for next flight to Pcola. I slept on the floor at the atl airport from 3am to 8:00 and i am finally on the beach. Thankful i had a snuggie and neck pillow to sleep on in the airport or it would have been a lot worse.
