So I want to take the S/O on a trip to visit a couple of different wineries. However, due to work schedules going to California or the west coast is out.

Would be looking at doing a Friday, Saturday, return Sunday. What are some places I could try?
Austin, North Carolina, not sure what else they would have that would be a reasonable flight and time wise.

Virginia.

I am biased, but the area around Charlottesville is beautiful with plenty of wineries and a lot of great restaurants in town.

Also, the Northern VA area (around Leesville) is supposed to be very nice as well. Horse country.

Leesburg.

The Northern Virginia vineyards are all a short drive from my home. They aren't my favorite wines but there are some good ones in there and the scenery is beautiful at most of them. 868 has a fantastic restaurant attached and the tastings are worth it just for the treats they come with from the restaurant.

Charlotteville area probably has the best vineyards in the state. Barboursville Vineyards down there is supposed to be incredible.

Any of the Vineyards also double as a B&B?

What's your goal? To drink some really great wines in the place they are made or just to go to a winery.

Sure there are some gems here and there (you might consider the Finger Lakes region of New York), but in general the best wine in America is made on the west coast.

Maybe go to New York City, check out Red Hook winery in Brooklyn, and then spend the rest of the budget drinking great wine in the restaurants of New York.

She wants to visit a vineyard and sample some wine. Figured her birthday would be a perfect time for a surprise so looking for things with a quick flight.
Prefer something that is a B&B so I'm not renting a car/ubering everywhere.

Try Finger Lakes or Long Island/Hamptons has a bunch of wineries, and I would presume some of that B&B aspect. But you are probably going to be ubering regardless.

Where will you be coming from?

I highly recommend the Yadkin Valley in North Carolina if you're looking at the east coast. I was actually just up there this past weekend for a summer wine release for a wine club fiance and I are a member of.

Plenty of B&Bs to stay in, cabins, pretty much whatever you guys want to do. The town of Elkin has a bunch of shops and a few decent restaurants as well.

We've been going there four about five years now so I can tell you which wineries to hit based on what you guys like.

Yadkin Valley will be difficult without renting a car. It's only about an hour north of Charlotte though.

Wine country in general without renting a car isn't easy. unless you're in the town of Napa or something like that.

Me and my wife at to Fredericksburg last year, they have a load of wineries and pretty affordable transportation options. We had a great time and want to go back.

Another option would be a weekend at blackberry farm. Incredible wine and food available there and white women love the place.

Do wine country in California another time.
