Heading there on Wednesday. I have only been one time before a few years ago. I stayed at the Hilton which is a nice hotel, but normally I try to stay in a place that is walkable to bar/restaurants around the area (that are safe). I was going to hit up the Blind Tiger and Noble Savage.

Is that Hilton the best place? Also saw the casinos right there, are those good spots to stay as well? Appreciate the suggestions.

Remington Hotel is walkable to most everything downtown. Kind of expensive but has nice rooms and a good bar. Shreveport has Lyft now too, so you can get a ride easier to places outside of walking distances.

Hit up Parish Taceaux and Abby Singers. Abby is in the Robinson Film Center and has a great balcony on the second floor. Food there is really good, imo.

Was looking at Remington. I assume the area is pretty good crime wise to walk around?

ETA: Thanks Salmon

Is there anything worth while on the Bossier city side of the river?

Downtown is not too bad crime wise, if you are being smart about getting around. Shreveport crime is getting worse, imo, but don't do anything stupid and I think you'll be fine.

There are a few decent spots close to downtown in Bossier but you'll need to Lyft or cab. L'Italiano is real good Italian food but not a good place to just get drinks. Haven't been to Flying Heart Brewery yet as I don't like their beer but have heard its a good spot. You have the Boardwalk too but I wouldn't recommend anywhere there to eat. All chains.

Not really.

Flying Heart is a brewpub, but their beer is awful. I've heard decent things about the food though.

For downtown food, I'd do Savage, Abby Singer, or Parish Taceaux. If you need a coffee shop, Rhino is right there as well.

Parish should some Great Raft on tap. Savage has a great scotch collection, but be aware of the smoke.

There nothing to do unless you like gambling or bring a boat. But there is good food to find.

We dont gamble but we do really enjoy Horseshoe and El Dorado hotels. Food wise we prefer El Dorado and also it is on the Shreveport side of the river.

So it sounds like first choice should be Remington and second El Dorado?

That is what I would do. Horseshoe behind those two, expect its on the other side of the River.

Remington is the first choice.

Just booked remington VIP suite for $119

Doesn't quite take the punch out of the $1093 flight, but its a start.

The buffet at the one in Shreveport is way better than anything at the ones in Baton Rouge

Does the one in Shreveport still have a steak night

Superior Steakhouse

Maybe it is just me but I feel like Superior has dropped down a notch or two. If I want a great meal outside of downtown, I am doing Bella Fresca, Franks (southern loop), 2 Johns, Mabry House, etc.. I still enjoy Superior but there are other options now. Franks on Southern Loop has become my favorite place in town.

I am by myself 99% of the time so steakhouses normally aren’t a good solo option. Normally try to find a bar with decent food to sit at.
