Where should I get my pre flight test for quickest results?

How long is it typically taking these places to get results back? Can I trust CVS to have my COVID test results in time if I get it 48 hours pre flight? Should I literally time it so that I get my covid test taken just under 72 hours pre final leg of flight just to be safe? Planning a trip to Hawaii btw

CVS literally has a disclaimer on their website:
"We cannot guarantee a specific turnaround time on the lab tests accepted by Hawaii - travelers to Hawaii should make other testing plans."

I went to CVS in September for a trip requiring results 72 hours before departure. I got mind back under 48 hours. It was over 4 days for my fiancé to get hers. We took the test together.

I wouldn’t trust CVS. There are other clinics that promise 48 hour PCR results but are expensive. What city do you live in?

I’m not sure where you are, but the Access Today Urgent Care Clinic in Southdowns BR (college and Perkins i think) has PCR travel tests that they say come back in 24 hours. They charge $150 for them.

I used the one recommended by Alaska Airlines, Carbon Health. They guarantee results by 2pm the next day. I got mine around 11am. I figure other airlines have information of where to go to get tested that have quick results and meet Hawaii’s SafeTravel standards.

Where did you fly from? How much did they charge for the test?
I’m flying Alaska from SeaTac to Anchorage at the beginning of April.
Has anyone used Costco to test?

Sorry. Can’t help you there. I’m only familiar with places in Houston

It takes a lot of work depending on what's required. These results are my own in TX.

If a rapid antigen test is allowed, that should be easy to get with results in 15 minutes to an hour.

If you need a PCR it gets more difficult.

If it's a saliva PCR then same day results are pretty easy to get.

If it's nasal swab same day PCR test results I only found two providers.

The Urgent Care on N. Carrollton at Bienville has rapid tests.

For Hawaii, you have to use one of their testing partners. Walgreens is one. If you go to Hawaii's COVID page, it'll give you a link to all the test partners. I would definitely time it so that you take the test as early as possible (72 hrs before your final leg).

They can't or won't guarantee the results on time. I fly out on a Wednesday so I am really screwed on getting the results back before the Wednesday morning flight

It doesn't look like there is any Louisiana based testing center that will satisfy Hawaii's requirements other than cvs and Walgreens and they both say they "will try". It looks like if you don't upload before arrival you are screwed!

I have the exact same situation. I’m in BR, planning to use WG. They don’t guarantee it but everything we read seems like they’re good for a 24 hr turnaround. They test on Sundays too.

I flew from SeaTac, got tested a few miles south of the airport at a center set up in Alaska Airlines corporate parking lot for $170.

So to go to Hawaii from continental Us, a US citizen still has to get test before travel and before returning? I thought that was just for other countries.

No, just traveling to Hawaii. No test needed to return to US mainland from Hawaii.

Well you just have to stay at your hotel until the results come in. Its unlikely if you are using a hawaii partner that its going to take more than 2-4 days.

May have been the case at one time, but it's not anymore. They require a negative test before boarding the flight or you are quarantined for 10 days.

quote:

If your test results are not yet available when you arrive in Hawai‘i, you will need to quarantine at your accommodations for 10 days.

quote:

If you receive a NEGATIVE TEST RESULT or an INDETERMINATE TEST RESULT while you are in quarantine in Hawai‘i, you will need to remain in quarantine for 10 days
