I’m taking the wife there this week for some culture but we only have a few things scheduled. She wanted to see the NYC ballet and a broadway play, so we’re doing that. She asked me what I want to do and I had no idea. There’s so much there that I don’t know where to start.

Del Frisco's, lobster bites for appetizer, lemon cake for dessert, any steak in between, you're welcome

ETA: USS Intrepid, circle boat tour as well

Despite being a chain, Del friscos is probably my favorite steakhouse in the country.

The New York location is beautiful.

Avoid it, to many crazy people with ugly accents.

Any kinds of food you’d ever want to try are there.

I’ve had great Ethiopian food there. I tried Sri Lankan food there and liked it.

You'll want to get drinks at the Library at NoMad, after drinks go to Keens and get either a steak or a mutton chop, then peruse over their 6 page scotch menu. While there you can admire the clay pipes in the ceiling from like likes of MacArthur, Teddy and Franklin Roosevelt and Eisenhower. The place has been open since the 1800s (and only let in women by court order ).

100 percent agree on Keen's. Gotta visit.

Some good dive bars also. Try the Black Swan.

It's free!

The Statan Island Ferry was always one of my favorite things to do in NYC (lived there for 10 years). Amazing views of the city and its free - no fare. Take a cab or the subway there. Great way to spend a couple hours. Might want to bring some snacks, but there are concessions with hot dogs & drinks and the like.

The boats are like little ocean liners. About 20 minutes each way. But you have to depart on Staten Island and take the next boat back - about a half-hour wait.

I enjoyed doing all of the typical tourist things in NYC. However, one of my favorite things was Grand Central Station. It's just amazing standing in the terminal and taking it all in.Then we went down to the lower level where the restaurants are and had a slice of Junior's cheesecake and people watched. Loved watching the people running late trying to catch their train

It's just a great place to take a rest stop.

I’ve been in manhattan all week. If you can, go to The River Cafe (which yes, is technically in Brooklyn) for dinner. It won’t disappoint.

Rent some bikes in Central Park and grab some Tony the Dragon food truck pita sandwiches and find a good spot to sit in the park. Hard to beat.

Go to the Top of the rock - skip the Empire State Building

Check out the high line

Walk over the Brooklyn bridge to Brooklyn ... nice park along the river

What Broadway show are you going to see?

Everytime we go to NYC, we try to do a food tour in a different neighborhood. They are always fun, but can take up a lot of time.

We recently saw Beautiful. It’s about the life story of Carole King. Very entertaining with good music.
