Bummed out today. Wife and I have never been to Key West and have a trip planned next week for our 20th anniversary.
Looks like that is going up in smoke. Should the hotel refund our deposit due to circumstances ? They have a 7 day cancellation policy but this is a little out of the ordinary

Well, yes and no. That cruise will likely just go to other fun places in the Caribbean not impacted by the hurricane.

Call the hotel and I’m sure they’ll work with you. If/when they issue some sort of an evacuation I’m sure you’d be automatically refunded anyway. Make sure you get to Key West another time, it’s a great place.

As others have said, call and ask. Most hotels/resorts will give a refund without issue even if your past the refund point. However, there are some that will stick to the letter of the rule and use "the mandatory evacuation" clause. In other words, unless they are under a declared evacuation at any time during your stay, they'll refuse to refund the deposit

Yeah, they have used the evacuation escape clause but at least did offer a credit toward another stay within a year

There’s really no point in going to Key West other than to say you’ve been. Can get the same shite in Key Largo.

Feel your pain.
Wife and I are scheduled for 3 days at Gasparilla Resort in Boca Grande, 3 days at LaPlaya Resort in Naples and 3 days at Innisbrook in Tampa starting next Wed.

Hope these 3 survive for future trips.
