...the day before the USA took over Venezuela.

Are you connecting through Caracas or something?

my wife is going to Honduras next month

Colombia will be fine, especially if you're going somewhere like Medellin or Barranquilla. They've had Venezuelan refugees there for years. Capturing Maduro won't make a difference

Don't go on any boat rides.

Nah, straight 3 hour flight from Frt. Lauderdale. Cartagena is a great place. The walkability of the French Quarter, without the fear of getting shot. A very strong police presence.
I was being funny, in my non-humorous way.

Cartagena is really fun. Getsmani and the walled city are great bases but i also like staying in the Rosario islands.

Any recs, and why you enjoyed them? I haven’t heard of them; I’m not a big planner—we went to Colombia over Christmas a couple of years' ago just because a coworker recommended it.

Check out the Spotted Dog sporting goods store while you’re there. Excellent gun inventory.

It is indeed an extremely target-rich environment.
