Me and my family were planning a trip to WDW for 2021 for Mardi Gras week bc we heard that's a great week for people in Louisiana to go. Well we then later heard that when it falls on President's day week it's not at all and of course it does. So now we are undecided whether to go the week after Easter or the President's day week. What are your suggestions?

We went Mardi Gras week this year and it was extremely busy! We planned it for that week because it wasn’t supposed to be busy but, my wife who joined numerous Disney blogs and sites kept telling me that the people who go to Disney each day were amazed by the large crowds. We still had a great trip though.

Crowds are typically lightening up the week after Easter and Mardi Gras. Also look out for Presidents’ Day weekend which is close to Mardi Gras next year as that’s a very busy weekend. If you have the flexibility I’d say the weekend after Easter over Mardi Gras weekend. Having said that I have no idea what Disney world is going to look like after this virus passes.

Just to clarify we would leave Mardi gras Sunday until the following Sunday. That whole week is bad when it falls on President's day? Seems like it would only be that weekend.

It’s my understanding that lots of schools in the northeast are out for that whole week

You were lied to. My guess is you heard that from someone because thats when they go every year, not because it's a great time to do go.

Both weeks are going to pull big crowds but this choice is easy...week after Easter.

My wife and I are suckers for Disney. We have gone every year that we have been together on Thanksgiving week. This time is surprisingly not that crowded by Disney standards. They put all the Christmas stuff up and that makes the trip way better. I would recommend moving it to 20 or 21 Thanksgiving. I have gone twice for Mardi Gras and they are my two least favorite experiences because the entire state of Louisiana evacuates to Disney World. Never again for Mardi Gras.

Last time we went was the week after Thanksgiving. It was pretty good that week and of course the Christmas lights do add to the experience.

I'd vote to stay away from WDW when Mardi Gras falls near President's Day...have been there the week prior at least twice that I can recall and the crowds get crazy, especially the Saturday / Sunday prior.

My family has been to WDW so many times, I've lost count. But I have gotten to a point in my life where I've put my foot down and told the family that we need to branch out a bit, that there are other vacation spots that aren't Disney. Not because I don't want to go back - but because I've decided that I'll take crowded if it's cheap, or expensive if the crowds are low - but not crowded and expensive. Seems like it's been a lot of crowded and expensive lately.

Mardi Gras week in 2021 is President's Day, Valentine's Day, Sandwiched between the Princess Marathon weekend and the Cheer comp weekend. Also It will be the Arts Fest at Epcot.

Didn’t you hear? WDW is a goner. Closed indefinitely.

Like others have said, MG week is also Jersey week. Stay away. Some of the largest crowds of the year are now during MG.
