It’s going to cost $1,500 minimum to fly to Aruba from Minnesota

I don't feel like whipping out a map and magnifying glass, but I'm pretty sure that the only islands in the Caribbean that I haven't been to are Nevis and St. Croix. So, you can ask me whatever you want...I'll try to member what I can.

I have to make it to Nevis one day, too...cause of Drake.

Tampa/St. Pete Beach/Clearwater area may be easier and more cost effective as far as your travel. It's not the Caribbean but it's also not like you're going to be snorkeling with a pregnant wife. Not a bad option for getting away from the cold and you won't have to worry about Zika.

Depends on the high versus low season. I’ve been seeing cheap flights. I’m planning to book at a resort around those dates.

You really should listen to all the people telling you not to bring your pregnant wife to the Caribbean.

Idk, I think the pregnant think is overblown. Chances of contacting Zika virus is like my plane crashing on the way there.

Even if the chance of microcephaly is 1% if she did happen to contract zika... Do you really want to risk it?

Don't be foolish. Zika is real. The consequences are real. Go to a zika free destination. There are plenty.

Overblown or not, it's a real thing and an entirely unnecessary risk. Seems like a pretty easy sacrifice to make to ensure your kid is healthy.

But don't trust a bunch of anonymous people on a message board. Why don't you call your physician and see what he/she has to say about the idea?

Do this before you plan it. My wife and I had a 4 night stay in Puerto Rico a few years ago before our second kid and the doc said we couldn't go because of Zika. We won it for pretty cheap in an auction, but was still pissed.

No idea what flights are like right now, but I'd second Aruba. That was my favorite place I've been to in the Caribbean. You're never hot because of the tradewinds. There's pretty much always a nice, steady breeze. Beautiful beaches and great snorkeling right off the beach.

Another spot, if it doesn't have Zika is Isla Mujeres. It's a small island about a mile off the coast of Cancun, so it's easy to get to. Fly into Cancun and ferry over to the island. Really fun little island with lots of pretty cheap places to stay. You rent golf carts and drive around the island. If you're there the right time of year, you can snorkel with whale sharks. We missed that, but there was a spot on the southern end of the island that you can literally get snorkeling gear for like $5, walk in the water and there's a reef about 50 yards out with tons of fish to see.

If you only have 3K, you will more than likely be on a 5 day trip. Most decent places are more than that for 7 days when you put your flight in there.

There are tons of places but maybe an all inclusive may not be best for you because of your price and the fact that your wife can't drink

You could do Aruba for $3k if you stay at an Airbnb instead of a high rise, and maybe eat out just 2-3x.

Check out the Aruba reef beach apartments on Airbnb
