Yep. It's not the nicest of buildings, but the unit we were in was recently updated and was pretty nice.
The building is only four or five stories and there are no big buildings near it, so the crowds were minimal. It might be a little more of an issue this weekend though.

The pool on the beach side isn't great and in a strange location. You can walk across the Hwy to use the other pool (just lie and say you are the owner of your unit if anyone questions you). It's not a great pool either, but it's great for laying out, grilling, or drinking and watching the boats on the bay.

The only real negative is that the parking lot fills up almost every night. People were parking out front in the small lot by the street and down along the grassy areas.

Thanks for the info!

We usually stay at one of the Phoenix properties but this one was decently priced for the entire week.
4th of July might bring a larger beach crowd there? We usually don’t go to the pool.
Hoping to meet some 20-30s people to party with but it is pretty close to the florabama so will probably just go there a lot.

I was there Memorial Day weekend and it wasn’t crowded on the beach even then.
Florabama is 1.1 miles away. Uber was like $4. LOL If you can’t find an Uber for the ride home, the cabs seem to be good there

If you are arriving Saturday or Sunday I would plan to buy your first few days of groceries before you get down there. Stores will be a mess

We are heading back there the week before school starts. I think July 27th to August 2nd. We are staying at Phoenix West this time. It’s my first time staying there and from what I’ve read on here, it’s gonna be miserable dealing with the elevators. The unit and facilities look super nice though and only a short uber ride to florabama for a night out.

Yeah, both properties (West and West 2) are overall designed well with great pools, parking, and rooms. They just screwed up bad with the elevator situation.

Hope nobody is planning on going to the FloraBama this week, Florida just banned on-site consumption at bars.

Despite the name, the entire thing is in Florida.

Flora Bama is registered as a restaurant and bar. You will be able to drink on the gulf and river side.

The Yacht Club will certainly be operating as normal, the FloraBama wasn’t though before bars were allowed to open so I doubt they will now. At best you can go but you’ll have to be seated at a table and eating in order to drink. And get luck getting a table 4th of July week.

Edit: after reading the order, it doesn’t appear that they’ll be able to stay open. Any establishment that makes more than 50% of their revenue from alcohol sales has to close and can only do to go drinks.

The Florabama will only be able to serve to-go drinks. I doubt their profits come from food more than alcohol. The threshold is more than 50% right now.

“Vendors licensed to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on their premises, that derive more their 50% of gross revenue from those sales, must suspend the sales of alcohol for consumption on the premises

Those vendors may continue to sell alcoholic beverages in sealed containers for consumption off the premises.”

We were literally sitting at the bar downstairs at The Pearl this morning when they got a text about this and made us get up and go sit at a table instead to finish our drinks.

ETA luckily we are leaving FL tomorrow but I feel sorry for everyone coming down here to vacation for the 4th.

We were there most of last week and Florabama always had a decent crowd, but it was never too crowded where you had to scream to talk to someone and you were never bumping shoulders with anyone. It really sucks for anyone heading there in the next week or two. We are heading back in 5 weeks and hopefully it’s back open by then.

I went to the place Memorial Day weekend when they were in that mode and it kind of sucked unless you went during the day and did the beach drinking with the little stage

Has anyone tried to purchase beach chairs online lately? All sold out, back ordered, or $150+

Has anyone come accross decent beach chairs in stock in Destin/San Destin????

I'd rather purchase before I go on the 5th but the options are slim. Don't want to get down there and stranded without a chair to drink in.
