Ultimate Road Trip

Two paths I would choose:

Start in Colorado make your way up through Wyoming and Montana back down through Utah and end at the Grand Canyon followed by Vegas

Start in Vegas and go to Grand Canyon, through Utah, Wyoming and end up in Montana.

Hmm, winter break makes it a bit more challenging, assuming that your squad has limited winter driving experience. I wouldn't want to be hauling through the mountains, etc for the first time driving w/snow. (You may feel differently.)

How about the Pacific Coast Highway from San Luis Obispo to San Francisco?

This is a really rough outline of my 17’ trip



Don’t go in the winter if you want to go west, I’ve done a few of these trips including a nearly 25,000 miler last summer and 13,000 this summer plus I spent a few weeks on the road while moving out here to Colorado a month ago. I went along with some friends for about 3 weeks, from Atlanta, through the West, to TJ, up PCH and flew out of Portland

Good times. I'd never been anywhere out west at that time, so YMMV, but to me the most lasting impressions weren't what I planned. I wanted to go to Mexico and see LA and San Fran. But what I remember most were dive bars and shitty hotels in the middle of nowhere NM, camping on Utah bluffs and along the coast in California and going to some towns I wasn't familiar with (Half Moon Bay/Mavericks, Solvang, etc.).
