Turks and Caicos Islands...

My wife has been wanting to go on vacation there for a long time. I don't think I can put it off for another summer. What is the best website to go about booking a vacation? TIA

Just browse expedia etc to get a feel for the places there. I just googled Turks and Caicos hotels and found lots of places. There are a lot of nice villas for rent there also.
Just came back and it was my first time there. I have been all over the Caribbean and to Asia on dive trips and I think the Turks were the nicest beaches and water anywhere. The seas were always calm and fairly shallow from shore. It's great for beach people. We stayed on the biggest island Providenciales because we didn't want to go to Grand Turk where the cruises dock.
The food is expensive there as are most islands. The rooms can be the same but we stayed at Ports of Call and it was only $160/night plus breakfast, pool, beach chairs and umbrellas, kayaks, and stand up paddleboards. Only down side is its across the street from beach.

Thanks for your input. 160 a night isn't bad at all.

$160 a night is cheap for Providenciales. I've been there a few times. If you pull the trigger let me know and I can make recommendations for things to do and places to eat.

We stayed in a studio villa that was part of a 3 home site with a shared pool. It was well appointed with nearly 360 views and was $200/nt.

I should clarify. If you want to stay on Grace Bay be prepared to pay.

Grace Bay is nice but I preferred the Long Bay area. It was even nicer water and pretty much empty. Bathing suits weren't needed it was so empty.
Definitely rent a car if you go to Providenciales. The taxi fares are absurd. You can rent a small car for $200 for the week.
I can also recommend some restaurants if you are interested.

Had someone just back from there tell me that there is very little to do outside of chilling on the beach, so if you want a nighttime bar and restaurant scene, T&C probably isn't the right spot.

There's a lot to do if you're willing to hop on a ferry and explore. There's also a wall to dive that goes thousands of feet straight down and other activities.

T&C is awesome. It seemed as though everything is 2x the price so it adds up quick. Taxi cabs are a rip, rent a car. Conch Shack & Kalookis are both very good. I enjoyed the fish fry by Gansevoort. We stayed at Windsong and had a great time.

It is expensive but the islands with a lot of restaurant choices and that feel safe and clean generally are.

Beaches resort is expensive but has lots of activities for kids.

Is it so safe anymore? A couple tourists have been shot recently and break ins seem to be rampant right now.
I'd still be willing to stay at a hotel on Grace Bay but I'd be hesitant to stay anywhere outside the main drag right now.

We drove all over the island while we were there and never felt unsafe or went into any really bad areas. Even when we got off the beaten path and went through the local neighborhoods. Just be smart and aware of your surroundings and you will be fine.
I have heard of some of the isolated villas getting robbed in the past but I think they have cleaned it up pretty well.

Stayed at the Gansevoort last summer and absolutely loved it. We rented a car for a day and drove the island. Not sure you would really need to explore more than 1 or 2 days. Depending on where you stay on Grace Bay, you could walk to most of the restaurants which are fantastic. Very expensive but excellent food across the island. We took cabs to dinner from the Gansevoort a couple times but there are enough great restaurants close by that we didn't leave very often. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway with you and the wife, I can't recommend the Gansevoort enough. We can't wait to go back.

We are going to the Sands at Grace Bay in T&C first week of November. Any information on restaurants, excursions, and in particular dive shops, or diving excursions would be appreciated. We just have regular open water certification so nothing too crazy. Really looking forward to chilling on the beach for a week.

Eat at Coco Bistro if you can get a reservation. Same with Bay Bistro although it's easier to get in.
Take the ferry to North Caicos one day. Rent a car there and drive across the causeway to a middle Caicos. Visit Bambarra Beach and Mudjin Harbor. Eat lunch at Daniels on the way back. Whatever Daniel caught that day and his son is frying up is what you want to eat. If you catch low tide at Bambarra you can walk way out in knee deep water.

Thank you for the advice. Going to look at trip advisor for excursions as well.

Was thinking about T and C as a potential honeymoon spot. Any recommendations for resort/Airbnb for that?
