Don't know what the normal turnover rate is, but sounds like 300 agents have quit since start of shutdown.

Airlines, Unions, etc are all calling for the govt to get their shite together. I'd be furious if I was in their shoes. The Democrats have held them hostage twice inside of 6 months in an effort to support non-citizens.

lolz. Are they advocates for privatizing TSA now? After they fought so hard for exactly what the circumstance is now?

The Houston airport system def should investigate this. Same as October, for some reason, Bush and Hobby lead the way in disruptions involving TSA

Can the airports temporarily hire them as contract workers?

This entire situation is such bullshite. The government is actively performing terrorism on its own citizens.

Not TSA agents... Same as people trying to support them in October offering tips and the likes. They can't accept outside $$$ for fear of bribery.

And outside firms aren't going to move in their equipment or even have it and staff that quick. Would be a 6mo-year transition I'd imagine.

Today looks like an armageddon day at many airports

Looks like possibly the worst day of this thing so far

Gonna be a whole lot worse next week because that will be the second paycheck they miss.

Duffy was on the news outlets this morning saying they will likely start diverting TSA personnel from small regional airports to major metros if it hits the fan.

According to officials, the current wait time to get through TSA at Bush's Terminal E, as of 8:15 a.m. is 200 minutes.

I remember going through Terminal E back in October during the first shutdown. Luckily, they had Pre open and it only took 20 min while the normal line was well over 3hrs.

According to the IAH socials, looks like only A had Pre yesterday and today its C.

TSA PreCheck® is the registered trademark, not Pre.

ET: precheck is fine, but adults running around saying "pre! pre! pre!" always reminded me of five year olds at a park.

Wednesday flew out of TPA, in regular line at 4:30 am took about 10 minutes.
Going back Wednesday night from Boston logan at about 5:30pm took about 5 minutes.
Anecdotal, I know, but I was surprised. Logan seemed to be overstaffed if anything.

Uh oh. Recent trend has been weekends having the highest call-out rates. That was the case with Houston and MSY when you first made this thread. Which absolutely sucks for spring break travelers including families.

LOLwhat?

They will miss a second paycheck this week. Its going to get bad here shortly.

Like I posted earlier, Duffy has already said contingency plans are to divert agents from regional airports to majors.
