Looks like Trump's EO is what is going to pay TSA tomorrow.

I'd bet we start to see lines return to normal Wednesday.

You may be ok. Just depends on how quickly they see the $$$ in their accounts and decide to get off their asses and back to the airports.

I haven't looked, but don't know if the EO says they get paid what they are owed, if it says they will get paid that and going forward in perpetuity... You may have some that hold out until there is a formal bill in place.

Wait times at IAH are significantly less today. Longest I’ve seen all morning was 45 minutes, versus a formal reported estimate of 180+ minutes most every day this week.

ETA - last Sunday was 200+ minutes for most of the morning and into mid afternoon.

I’m worried about the people who quit and found new jobs. If I worked for TSA and this is the 2nd time this happened in a short turnaround, I’d be looking for something else especially with threat of this happening again.

Not hard to find work in Houston. TSA may be short staffed for a while.

No they won't. It was 400 out of a total of 30k that have quit.

Have you ever gone through TSA, its not exactly skilled labor. They will easily be able to fill abandoned roles.

They will fill them by Wednesday? In time for my flight?

No, but you think all 400 that quit out of 30k are from Houston? And you realize that every TSA agent doesn't work every day, right?

They will ebb and flow the workers via OT and the likes. The impacts will be nearly zilch in the grand scheme of things once the $$$ actually hits their accounts tomorrow.

Good to know. I’ll show up an hour before boarding time as usual on Wednesday since everything is back to normal. Thanks.

If Pre and Clear are back open at Bush, you can easily make it through in under an hour even with a shutdown.

I did it in October. A and E were only terminals open and E was over 3hr wait for standard screening. Got through with Pre in 20 min.

Are you aware you used the word “can”

Yes you can.

You also may not. Why risk it in this environment

Fine, you will...

I fly out of Bush nearly 40 times a year and the longest I've ever waited in pre or clear was that 20 or so min during the october shutdown when only E and A were open and the wait was 3hrs for standard screen.

If Pre is running and A, C, D, and E are all open, you won't wait longer than 15m max

Saw that Atlanta is flowing well today, but haven’t seen any updates out of New Orleans or Houston.

Sounds like DC area is back to normal with wait times

Yup, looks like the workers got their prior 2 paychecks yesterday. IAH hadn't opened Pre/Clear just yet, but lines were at an hour there.

I said it would prob be Wednesday when everything would be back to normal and that looks to be the case.

Now you just need Congress to pass legislation similar to November when they made ATC exempt from shutdown. The air system is too critical to be fricked with by politicians.
