I’m a bit disappointed this board has turned into a forum asking for tips/suggestions on different places...and that’s about it.

Rarely do I see people linking articles about different destinations or discussions about top places in the world for food/outdoor/cheap, etc. A few threads on people recapping their trips which can be cool. The cheap airfare thread is always a welcomed sight.

But mainly this is just a TripAdvisor forum with a less diverse audience.

By all means, step up to the mic.

To be honest, most here probably live in or visit NOLA/BR enough that they don't care to discuss it on a travel board.

There are 28 other cities to discuss. Just highlighted the local ones.

Not many people on here want to talk about Louisiana in terms of places to travel.

I do agree that we should have more random discussion threads. I enjoy the Travel Board and would love to see more activity on here.

Yeah. I agree HGG is a mediocre admin. Also, photo hosting and posting has become onerous for me since photobucket kicked the bucket. If posting photos was easier, I'd do it more.

I've got some trip reviews from past trips that I've been considering making threads about

Try postimage.org. It's the easiest that I've found. No need to login or any of that.

The articles are fine; but, I get those on my own.

I appreciate the intricate details/tricks/suggestions that posters offer from real-life experiences. People sharing names of drivers, specific houses to rent, boats to charter: details you don't get from an article/list.

I agree. The tips are useful and I do appreciate them. I just look for a little variety. I enjoy the travel board but more often than not, I’ll check the thread titles and if I don’t have anything planned for a common destination, there isn’t much entertainment for me. The random articles mixes it up a bit and leads to idea for me. Plus the random questions about people’s wishlist, rankings, polls are fun too.

This 100%. I try to keep the board updated with flights, holiday travel, helping others with flights, etc., but think we need something else to add some traffic. Not necessarily reviews or finding things to do in specific cities, but articles on new travel features, hotel reward questions, or airline updates to name a few.

Also, this board could really deal without "I'm going to Europe, post links for what I need to do while I do nothing to help plan my trip". That thread irked me big time

Thanks for the feedback. The sticky is for reviews and photo journals. We started a similar thread that was more around trip planning and ideas people should consider. It was unapproved by the TD admins and cell into the abyss.

What 3 specific things can I change so I move out of mediocrity?

Articles are written every day all over the web. The sticky was designed for people to post THEIR OWN travel and experiences.

Posting daily links to new articles would be a never ending task.

I don’t need suggestions of threads that irk you. I need links.

These types of threads are prone to pissing matches and dick measuring contests.
