Glad to hear you had a good time.

Slumbrew in Somerville is definitely putting out some good stuff, but I do have to say of the ones you went to I think Lamplighter is my favorite.

It shouldn't be too cold in mid-November. That's usually still nice fall weather, maybe a little chilly at night.

Back from my trip to Western Mass... in the day and a half I spent in Boston, Dinner at Island Creek Oyster and lunch at Neptune Oyster were definitely the highlights...

re: The Definitive Boston Thread
Abita - this thread has been great but wanted to see what you thought.

In Boston from a Sunday around 1pm to a Wednesday afternoon. Working Monday - half day Wed. Staying at the Westin Copley. Only plans we have right now are to go to a Red Sox game Sunday evening at 8pm. Would we get to the game using the T? Also, do you have recommendations for Sunday afternoon/up until game time?

Additionally, want to go see MIT and Harvard on Monday evening using the T. Any good dinner spots in that area? Or is this a bad idea to go see that area?

Tuesday evening is completely open and would like to make a reservation some where.

Any help is appreciated.

re: The Definitive Boston Thread
First of all, yes, I would highly recommend you take the T to get to/from Fenway. You can access the Green Line from Copley and get off at Kenmore and be at the ballpark in 10-15 minutes. Before the game, there are some great places to eat/drink both close to your hotel and in Fenway. I really like the Oak Long Bar in the Fairmont Copley, which is very close to you.

Also, Eventide or Island Creek Oysters are both close to Fenway, and the Baseball Tavern is a good bar to grab a beer right across the street from Fenway.

I'd definitely recommend Alden & Harlow if you're looking for dinner near Harvard Square.

As for Tuesday, if you could give me an idea of what y'all like to eat/cost and what area of town you'll be in, I would be happy to give some options.

We ate lunch at Eventide then walked to Bukowski Tavern before the game. Bukowski is a great dive bar with mostly locals...maybe our favorite bar we went to in Boston.

Yes Bukowskis is a fantastic dive bar for sure. Great beer list.

Staying at the Westin Copley but would be open to ubering/T within a few minutes. As far as food, we'd be open to anything from italian to some tapas (not really looking for seafood or a steakhouse). Cost isn't a big issue - not looking to go to the best restaurant around but don't mind spending some money on wine and food. Let's say $$$.

re: The Definitive Boston Thread
Both of these places are in the South End and I'd highly recommend either one:

1. For Italian, check out Mida. Great atmosphere and the food is outstanding.

2. For tapas, Toro. It's one of my favorite restaurants in the city. The downside is there's no reservations, but on a Tuesday night you probably wouldn't have a huge wait.

Others to consider:

Barcelona
Metropolis
Gaslight
Townsman

Take a look at these and let me know if you have any other questions!

Abita,
We're headed back up to BC next weekend for the Temple game and would like to watch LSU/Ole Miss...is the Baseball Tavern on Boylston still "the" LSU place to catch a game?

re: The Definitive Boston Thread
Yes, the Baseball Tavern is still the LSU Alumni Bar. Should have a decent crowd. There. I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun it is to go to BC games (it's obviously no LSU, but for what it is it's a good time).

Enjoy.

Abita I’m staying in Woooooburn this weekend and will be heading to the Sox’s game tomorrow at 1:00 what is the best mode of transportation? We are also going to stay around the area grab some dinner and catch the LSU game at Baseball Tavern.

I’ve got a rental car but not sure what would be the best way to get there.

Your best bet is probably to drive to the Alewife T stop, park in the garage, and take the red line from alewife to park st, then the green line from park to Kenmore.

Sorry for the delayed response, I’m out of the country with limited WiFi right now.

Headed back up for the charity thing i mentioned in March. Looking to take clients out somewhere to watch game 3 and maybe game 4 near Faneuil Hall. Any thoughts? May do trivia one night.

Let me know if you want to grab a beer. Same to Boogie.

Headed to Boston the first week of December. Any other hotel recommendations? I can stay anywhere although the closer to downtown the better - just need to keep it corporate budget friendly. I’ve read your post and am open to any neighborhood - maybe you have a favorite?

Thanks!

re: The Definitive Boston Thread
Check out the Ames Hotel, the Long Wharf Marriott, the Envoy, or the Fairmont Copley. Those are all relatively near downtown and you can either walk there or take a short T ride.

If those don't fit your budget, let me know and I can suggest others.

Spent too much time researching but ended up at the Omni Parker. Looks like it’s right downtown so should be easy access to everything. Need to look into what I want to do now!

Omni Parker is also a good choice. Great location.
