Abita, Heading up to Boston from 5/10 - 5/14. Hitting up a Sox game on 5/13. Would you recommend using one of the days to see Cape Cod? I was thinking 1 day checking out the North end/Freedom trail; another day checking out Harvard and the Sox game and one of the days taking the Ferry to Cape Cod.

Do I have time for all of that?

Just went to Boston by myself for work about 3 weeks ago.
I was looking for a good sports bar to go watch the first day of march madness. just googled and settled on STATS, which is on Dorchester and Broadway, just a couple of blocks from where you're staying. Had no idea about the area, and this was only my second time to Boston.
That place was douche city, and they wouldn't even let me in b/c they said my out of state license looked fake. Guy asked me if i had my passport. i'm like dude its a fricking bar and i'm 40, no i don't have a fricking passport to show you. if you didn't want me in here b/c i'm too old then just tell me, i dont' want to go in here anyway now that i can see whats in here.

anyways, i started walking up Broadway. Very nice area. There were cops that seemed to be patrolling the streets, just walking around like they were on duty, which is crazy to me being from Baton Rouge. Stopped and talked to one and he was very friendly. recommended to eat at CAPO, which was fantastic. Capo is right next to Lincoln Tavern. They both look similar, and have a bar feel to them, albeit a very upscale bar. Lincoln Tavern was carding people to get in. Capo was just a restaurant, even though the insides of both are almost identical, and both have a hostess that has to seat you if you aren't sitting at the gigantic bar. Both places were loud inside. loud music, which caused everyone to holler to talk to each other. but despite the loudness, it was a rather low key mellow atmosphere. I enjoyed it.
I told him i noticed the area seemed young, but not college young, and he said yeah this is where all the kids that finish college come to live in the city, and it's become very popular with wealthy late 20's crowd.

While i felt a bit out of place, i didn't really care, and there was plenty of nice eye candy, but the area isnt' bad at all to say the least, just know that the area is mainly for people from age 24-28, not 30+, and definitely not 40+.
If you're young and looking for a good night life scene, and possibly a lady to find, then that would be a prime area to be in Boston.

Thanks for the response. Of course traveling with 6 people no one can agree on anything and that place is booked now. We ended up with a spot in Dorchester.

We’re taking our annual girls trip and going to Boston this year in early November. Looking for a VRBO or AirBnB to stay. What’s a fun, walkable area for us to stay? We’re all in our early 40s and like to shop, go to chill bars, eat good food and do some touristy stuff?

Newbury street (Back Bay) has all the typical stores you want to shop in: Burberry, Hermes, Tiffany’s, Valentino, Rag & Bone, Chanel, etc. But also a lot of other great shops.

The Prudential Center is right there as well and a slightly more traditional mall setup but there is an Eataly in there as well.

HIGHLY recommend Krasi if y’all enjoy Greek food. It’s a James Beard winner so book in advance and go hungry.

During the summer (peak travel time) and asking for an air bnb for a group, I’m just going to be honest. $250 a night won’t cut it. Either up your budget or look for a new destination.

Edit: unless you’re willing to be in the burbs way outside the city. Then maybe Braintree would work?

We stayed here last summer (within your budget) and never felt unsafe.

First I'll say that we aren't much in need for luxuries in our accommodations and like you almost always prefer a location and full kitchen over some other amenities so this worked. Easily walkable to the Common, full kitchen, washer and dryer in the building (not the unit), very accessible to shopping , dining and multiple T stations.

I really doubt you'll find a hotel with a kitchen for $250/night, so your best bet will be AirBnB. Since you're ok being a little outside the city, I would recommend looking in Quincy to start. Easy access to the red line which will bring you right into the city.
