Hey Guys - I’m an experienced hiker, my wife not so much. She wants to experience a little hiking and tent camping. I was think Northern Alabama. Any recommendations for 3-4 night Rendezvous With her in a tent any suggestions of parks? Thanks.

Tent camping anywhere in Alabama right now would not be fun - just too hot. Sleeping in a tent with temps in high 70’s and 80’s at night is miserable for me.
If you’re looking to go soon, I would suggest going to mountains of North Georgia or Eastern Tennessee - will get some tolerable nighttime temps there.

I agree. Sipsey wilderness is fun but not in August. I need elevation for summertime.

Sand Rock. It’s car camping, but a super fun place to explore. Cherokee Rock Village May be what it’s referred to now. I think the owner donated it some time back.

For her first camping experience I would do 1 night, not 3 or 4.

Need pic of wife to better analyze the situation.
Ops - never mind. I thought I was still on the OT.

Now? No way man. Look at the avg nightly temps or even nightly temps this week. You don't want to camp until those temps are in the 60s at most and preferably 50s to low 60s. You want it nice enough to wear you can be in a sleeping bag and not sweat your nuts off and can sit in front of a fire and not feel like you are in an oven.
As said, I'd wait until late September at least.

Maybe the AT, you could break up the tent camping and stay at the hike inn on the approach trail. if you drive in from Springer side, rather than Amicalola, you can semi car camp. good water flow going now. all in shade, about the best you can do for coolness, but Id wait for highs in at least the low 80s

The Mentone/ Desoto area of southern Appalachia is always a great spot.
