I think people are using the term "sketchy" relative to the overall PNW region - not comparing it to places like Memphis or Baltimore. You are obviously going to be safer there than many other parts of the country but on the other hand it's not perfect - if you book the cheapest motel you can find don't be surprised if drug addicts and prostitutes keep you up at night and break into your car.

I downvoted you. You don't know shite about the Pac NW and aren't qualified to give info.
Been to Portland, Seattle, Eugene, Salem, etc lately? Tent cities are all over town. We even have a really bad problem with them in Bend. There's no fricking way that you live in the PNW and don't see "transient campers".

You've heard?
Yeah. From several different people that moved from that part of the state, but clearly you're the expert.

And wtf does this comment have anything to do with what I said about you?
Nothing. But that's pretty much what I expected out of you.

Quote me where I talk about Spokane?
I know a bit but didn't say anything because I'm not the right person to comment.
You are far from knowing anything about Spokane yet here you are giving advice based off second hand knowledge.
Be butthurt if you wanna be. I don't care.

You said that I don't know shite about the PNW. I live here, fricktard. Stop derailing the thread with your childish BS.

And I still know more about Bend and Central Oregon and I've never lived there.
You don't know shite. I've seen enough of your terrible takes on the area.
Be butthurt kid, I don't care. I can do this all day sitting by a lake an hour from Spokane.
I will need a break to go ride my waverunner but I'll be here to check you if you wanna play.

2 summers ago I spent a month working in the PNW. Spent time in every decent sized town. I thought Spokane was forgettable.

Did I hurt your feelings talking about how much the food sucks here in another thread? It does.

Quit projecting.
You're the only one who is butthurt and has hurt feelings.

No-Li Brewhouse is good. But again if visiting the PNW Spokane isn't the way to do it

Seriously? This is the travel board, not the OT. Go argue over there.

Bend OR and Bellingham WA
yeah these options seem superior, especially after doing a bit of research

If you decide to go to Bend, I'd be happy to help any way that I can. I'm definitely not an expert on the town or anything(been here 5 years) but I've been to a few places(Crater Lake, Smith Rock, Newberry National Monument, the Painted Hills, water falls, etc) that are pretty close by.

For Bellingham:
If flying out of MSY try to fly Alaska Airlines through Seattle to Bellingham. Be sure to research flight and rental car costs as Seattle may be cheaper. Due to Allegiant Airlines, and Bellingham Intl. Airport’s proximity to the Vancouver, BC market, it is now the third largest airport in Washington, but guessing SEA is cheaper as it is also a Delta hub.
Bellingham is great to visit for a couple of days, but not much more as the surrounding area is very impressive. Bellingham is a fun college town (home to WA’s third most popular public university), great breweries, a mediocre waterfall for NW standards (Whatcom Falls), and two downtowns: downtown Bellingham and Fairhaven.
Close by are Mt. Baker (and tons of waterfalls), North Cascades (even more waterfalls), and closer by is Chuckanut Drive, a coastal drive along steep hills with oyster farms on one side of road and amazing hikes on other between Bellingham and the Skagit Valley (America’s tulip capital in April).
The San Juan Islands are amazing too, and worth another thread.
Due to border crossing security, you are almost halfway between Seattle and Vancouver, BC, so tons in between there.

I bet Bellingham airport is a PITA. Expensive and less frequencies. Absolutely rent a car in SEA or take the train to Bellingham if that's where you want to go.
