Heading to LA for Easter week with the family, will hit Anaheim and end with San Diego. Any suggestions on must do activities/attractions? It will be our 1st trip to SoCal.

LA Jolla and other seaside towns between LA and SD.....gorgeous areas and older towns that look like time stopped 30 years ago.

Laguna Beach is a nice beach town...... There is a beach in Laguna Nigel that used to be hidden and so just locals.... I can look it up if you're interested.

How old are the kids? Hit up Disneyland, Legoland on the way to San Diego and then do the Zoo and Sea world in SD

Can't recommend this enough. Felt like I was in an episode of 90210. A sunset in La Jolla was awesome. Watch those seals tho.

La Jolla Cove at sunset is pretty awesome. There is a grassy area for the kids to run around and play

If you're going to stop in Laguna Beach, would also recommend Newport Beach. Really cool town.

My wife and I are headed to Laguna Beach in June for our 20th anniversary. We were recommended the Deck at Laguna Beach for drinks and the Driftwood Kitchen nearby for dinner. Maybe you can ditch your kids and do the same.

If you drive south from Anaheim, don’t miss San Climente. They have a beautiful pier with amazing views of the coastline and surfers. The restaurant’s on the pier are really good too.

One of my favorite stops in SoCal - cheers

If you're thinking about the zoo look into the safari park in Escondido.

Ocean Beach is cool place with kind of a retro feel. Can eat at hodads and then head to the beach/pier.
La Jolla is nice just bring a mask for those stank arse seals.
La Jolla trail is neat.
Stop by Torrey Pines if you like golf, gorgeous course to just stop and see.
Solana beach is a cool place to shop if the wife wants to.
Encinitas Fish House has a great Poke Bowl.
Carlsbad village is a cool little place to walk around, also where Legoland is.

You can do all of the above in a day. While on your way down. They would be in reverse order of how I listed them. So start with Carlsbad and then go down to Oceanside.

Griffith Observatory, especially at dusk, is pretty awesome. Spectacular views of L.A.

Yes, this x 100000. Gorgeous view, especially. And you can walk right down to the beach from it and then come back up.

I don't think they take reservations and it is very popular, so keep in mind you may have to wait for a spot to open up. But really great people watching.

I 2nd Griffith Observatory. There's plenty of good spots with very few people to watch the sunset if you don't mind hiking up and away from the big crowds. Of the times I've gone, I preferred getting to my spot ~30 minutes before sunset. The place is a madhouse when the sun goes down.

Your wife will probably like West Hollywood. Lots of trendy restaurants. Lots of gays North Hollywood/Burbank where all of the studios are can be cool.

Definitely recommend as much coastal beach visiting you can fit in. I'll be in San Diego in a few weeks, and will finally make the effort to get out of the city and visit La Jolla since I never have.

OH - In L.A... a drive over to Santa Monica for dinner is great sight seeing.

I think you're thinking of ocean beach not oceanside.

Santa Monica is great, but I would prefer making the additional 15-minute drive into Venice and walk Abbot Kinney, the Canals, Boardwalk, Skate Park, etc.

Zappa, are you thinking of the beach at The Montage? It's a nice beach and not nearly as crowded as downtown Laguna Beach. San Clemente beach is nice as well, and I believe there is one in Dana Point as well.

To the OP, if you have the option I would recommend taking the train down from Orange/Anaheim to SD if you just want to spend time in the city. That way you can avoid parking in SD and you can both enjoy the trip and view.

If time permits check out Catalina Island. Yep it's touristy but it's a fun half or full day excursion.
