Are there any good bars for a group of 35-40 yr old couples in Ruston? Is rideshare services available as well?

Do they sell liquor here or is only a brewery selling their own beer?

Get a Griff's Meal Deal and try to stay awake on your way out of town.

Why bother? The smell of paper mills? If you're seeing a graduation, I'd just drive to Monroe or Shreveport after and socialize there.

I see that Sundown and the Cue Stick are still open, but you're not bringing a woman you like at that age into either place. I can't tell you how many times we had someone drive to Monroe rather than stay in Ruston, and not just because the bars closed at 2, not at 12, like they used to in Ruston.

Dawghouse on campus. Sundown Tavern & Ponchatoulas downtown. Probably more places opened up since I’ve been.

Utility has a full bar with a pretty good bourbon selection.

Applebee’s closed several years ago. The building is now Chase bank.

Trio’s and White Lighting are the adult bar/restaurants. White Lighting has the best cocktails. Beau Vines bar scene isn’t great, but it the food is decent.

Sundown straddles the watering hole/dive bar line. Bar food is ok, service hit or miss. But that is pretty much everywhere. It’s a college town. By the time a new server is proficient they graduate and move.

Raw is takeout only unless you do a buy out.

With the recent election, the first true bar was recently given approval. It will be at the food truck park in the Heard Freight warehouse building.

And you can now purchase liquor and wine at grocery stores (not convenience stores or gas stations).

And there is no ride share service. There is a taxi in town, but I wouldn’t trust it being available when you need it.

OP clearly doesn't want to justify why you are adult "vacationing" in one of the worst, most non-descript places to do so. We're all just pissing in the wind trying to figure out how four middle aged adults are going to be entertained and get home without a DUI in one of the absolute worst places to do either.

This surprises me, but I looked into it and found that to be the case.

The cops were notorious for DWIs back in the day, and you have a town full of students who would seem to make good potential drivers. Seems perfect for Lyft or Uber.

Really hard to believe this is the case for a college town in 2023.
