Renting a Jeep Wrangler at Phoenix airport and driving up to Sedona area for the week.

Staying at Hyatt Pinion Pointe.

Ive never rented a Jeep before. Pretty sure it's a hard top and I'm wondering where I can store the top? Can I just leave it in hotel room?

That is what I would do if it disassembles into panels.

IMO, and we were there this May with a rental Jeep, you will need the top on as its hot as hell there during the day. However the t-tops will fit in the back on the Jeep but taking off the back half is something I am not familiar with.

If you want a good place to cool off, swim and relax go to Bango Bill's picnic site on the Oak Creek Drive (Its about a mile north of the State park)

lay the two pieces from above the front seats in the back cargo area.
if it’s a hard top you won’t be taking the rear top assembly off

If they have a soft top option, go with that. Relatively easy to take down and top is always with you in case of rain or brutal sun conditions

On a hard top, the freedom panels(the 2 smaller panels) over the front 2 seat come off easily without tools and there should even be a storage bag in the cargo area. The rest of the hard top is a different story, heavy, big, need special tool to remove, and pretty sure that's not gonna fit in a hotel elevator or through a door.

watched an idiot come down that in a toyota camry. i was going up on my bike and saw some folks coming down on a side by side. we all stopped to laugh at the idiot bottoming out on every boulder. this was near sedona where it is really rough, not up around 17 where it is a little more manageable.

I've put some rental sedans through hell in the Pacific NW on logging roads.

Anytime I see an ad for Enterprise Car Sales I always reflect on some of their vehicles' histories.

If it is a HT, you are going to need two people and it will be a pain to store. You will not easily be able to fit it in a Hotel room.

Best option is just remove the freedom panels if it is a hard top. You can also remove the doors, which would be even cooler than top down. Take a 13mm socket or wrench with you on the trip in case the door nuts are still on. You can web search the process, but when all nuts are removed (2 per door), all 4 doors can be removed in less than 10 minutes. You can leave them in hotel room easily.
