Also, from what I've heard, is your reservation may not be honored upon your arrival to pick up the rental car.
It's all because rental companies sold off excess inventory last year when Covid restrictions were in full swing.

We booked a car through Costco with Enterprise for the end of June in Fresno CA. Reading this and how enterprise doesn’t hold it if they can rent it for more, should I call them a few days before to confirm or just show up with fingers crossed?

Did the same earlier this month in Denver with no issues and it was MUCH cheaper through Costco than anywhere else. It was busy as shite too and I was worried they would run out of cars before I got to the front of the line.

Just showed up. Hell I didn’t even realize the cancellations were a thing until I read it on here. We rented a truck from enterprise in Las Vegas right off the strip in February and didn’t have any issues then either

For those asking, the shortages are very much a real thing and have only really started in the last month. If your experience is from a couple of months ago, it's different now. I rent weekly and am in every loyalty club with status. I had to wait an hour for someone to come back with a car three weeks ago. That was with a reservation. It has been much the same last week. This week I lucked out when I was told to wait but then a short lady came back in complaining she couldn't reach the pedals in the Jeep they gave her. I grabbed the keys and got out in 15 minutes.

Basically, the companies don't give a shite if you have a reservation or not. Today when I returned the Jeep there are new signs at every counter that they no longer take walk ups or people without reservations.

I have a SUV reservation in Denver (Airport) for Jun 2-8. They had better produce because it's fully paid ahead.

I used to fly into DIA (Denver) and a midsize would be $6 per day. Six dollars. This was not that long ago.

Yep, it was like waiting in line for a ride at Disney with the zigzag lines. I was to the point of counting people in line and counting vehicles outside with my butthole puckered. Had 7 of us so we had to have a full size suv or van. Luckily, they were pumping vehicles in from the back fresh off of detail so I got mine and got out of there.

I reserved a car from Alamo in Seattle for September. I hope it won't be an issue. I'm worried now especially because we are flying in at night and going straight to the hotel with the kids after getting the vehicle. Hopefully they gave something that late

Look into Turo depending on your needs, essentially AirBNB for cars.
