Going to Yellowstone beginning of June. Staying in Gardiner for the week. Trying to plan our route back to Bozeman. Would you go east through cooke city red lodge, big timber livingston, or go west through west yellowstone up through big sky?

North through Paradise Valley, stop at the old saloon. But of the routes you mentioned, go through big sky and the Gallatin Gateway. Big timber route isn't scenic.

The drive from the West gate, along the Gallatin River, and up to Big Sky is pretty. We really loved Big Sky and ended up staying there an extra day.

If Bear Tooth Hwy is open to Red Lodge, then 100% this route. It is one of the best drives in the world.

I’m gonna tag along in this thread. We’re going in mid October. What’s the best route from Bozeman to Jackson Hole?

We’re headed there mid-May. Our neighbor owns a place with his brother and sister ear the North entrance to the park. It’s operational from May through October…Yellowstone Dreamin Camp.

The route through Cooke City and up the Beartooth Highway is definitely a more scenic drive. However, early June is questionable as to whether or not the Beartooth Highway is open. I would check the condition of Beartooth Highway once you arrive - if open, go that way. If not, go through West Yellowstone.
