We have several threads about things to do but I'm more interested in where not to go.
I will have a front pocket wallet and will not carry any cash. I will be staying 3 blocks from the city center in Lisbon and spending a day in Sintra and Faro so essentially 4 days in Lisbon. My plan right now is to be back at my hotel by 10 pm every night just to avoid any issues, but anything else I should worry about? Pickpockets I know about

Portugal has a level 1 travel advisory, the lowest advisory by the US. You’re significantly safer in Lisbon than New Orleans.

Don’t leave bags unattended or have easy access to wallet on a packed trolley/funicular and you’ll be fine.

Don’t bring your current mindset to Portugal, relax and keep an eye out for cool experiences or things you wouldn’t do otherwise back home (e.g. pop in a small, hole in the wall restaurant).

Check our all the neighborhoods and be sure to eat all the egg custards....I’m jealous.

And just like in America they’re fairly easy to spot. You’re severely limiting your trip by being back in the hotel at 10pm. You’re not a teenage girl are you?

The entire country of Portugal had 82 murders in 2017.
Baton Rouge alone had 87 in 2018.
New Orleans had 147, which was the lowest rate in 50 years.
Chill out.

Americans seem to think that "Taken" is a documentary.

Seriously, this country has lost its mind when it comes to wanting a risk free life and being scared of its own shadow.

Honestly? The same places that would be unsafe in the US but to a much lesser degree. You’re a guy. You might get mugged or if you act like an arse in the wrong place (which I don’t see you doing) you might get you arse beat up.

The chances of something worse happening to you are higher in your home town than in the entire country of Portugal. I’m surprised you posted this. I view you as a pretty well-seasoned traveler.
